A thousand Seeds of Joy, by Ananda Karunesh, is a thought-provoking, lively and highly motivational book. It contains the spirited conversations between the author, Ananda Karunesh, and the goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. The author, through a lot of meditation, reaches a trance-like state where he is able to hold conversations with the goddesses and ask burning questions such as how to truly forgive and how to live in peace amidst suffering.
The book gives advice from the goddesses themselves on how to truly achieve 'the primordial joy.' By this, what is meant is that human beings are able to get to a state of boundless and unconditional joy; they just have to follow the guidelines set for them. The book, which is primarily aimed at women, also raises a number of gender-related issues such as feminism, and how to properly approach the movement. It, for example, encourages women to 'fight' for their rights and freedom by showing men their real value and not by necessarily using violence. It answers this and many other burning questions as asked by Ananda.
The real value of this book is the approach it takes in answering the posed questions. It is formatted as a Question and Answer book, where the author poses a question and then proceeds to write the answers below it. This is then followed by follow-up questions, which served to make sure that we (the audience) got the full answers that could be provided. In this regard, the author did a good job of asking the right questions and follow-up questions. Sometimes, a question would be so profound that it required an entire chapter while at other times, the answers were short and precise.
Another good thing I found about the book is its credibility and authority. Despite not believing in the author's religion, I found that most of the answers were satisfactory. For instance, the goddesses advocated for peace, love, and joy. These are values that, I believe, are shared and held by almost everyone, and such I found myself agreeing with the author and the goddesses a lot.
In all honesty, I enjoyed reading this book. I did not think that I would enjoy it as much as I did, as I am not an avid reader of such books. However, I was proven delightfully wrong as I was entertained, educated and even inspired. This is a great book; one that I gladly rate 4 out of 4 stars. I found very few grammatical errors within its pages. It is a book that will be enjoyed by a variety of audiences, but more especially those that love religious and inspirational books.
