Toni the Superhero is a simple children’s book written by R.D. Base. When I first heard of this children’s book it was actually through the book of the month. I spent some time browsing the forums and decided I wanted to do a review of this book. It definitely received a lot of attention and now that I have read it, I see why. This story is great for beginner readers, helps build their confidence in reading, and is simple enough for any toddler to enjoy.

This book is about Toni, the superhero. It was written to entertain a very young audience from 0 to 4 years old. It is a simple book about feeling super just from accomplishing everyday tasks. It teaches children that they can be their own superhero of their home.

When I first opened the document to read this book, I was pleased with the cover. The art is quite outstanding, considering it is drawn for children. It has great details and great color choice. I was also surprised by the fact that little Toni isn't 'white'. It shows great diversity and I think this may just help a child to not have a racist mind. It shows them that even superheroes can be different than the 'norm'. This is the first children's book that I have seen that has a main character of color. I am very much happy with this fact. The illustrator did a wonderful job.

The writing style is simple, perfect for young readers. It will most certainly give any child who reads this a lot of confidence to read. The sentences are all similar to the others, they all start with 'Toni'. Easy, simple, and creative. The author did a great job writing something that beginner readers will learn a lot from. Without any spoilers, the depictions of food in this book are healthy foods. There are many lessons here that tons of children will absolutely enjoy.

I give this superb children's novel a well-deserved rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The simple sentences make little room for grammar mistakes. The art is magnificent. Simple enough to keep the attention of a child, but cute enough that adults won't be bored with it. This book is perfect for families. I especially recommend this book to preschoolers and daycares. It was written for young readers and it is perfect in every way for the intended audience. This is one cool children's book.
