Superhighway is a magnificent science-fiction novel by Alex Fayman. The book grabbed my attention from the first couple of sentences. I was impatient to read more and more of this amazing story. However, one should have in mind that this is not the typical science-fiction novel.
The main character Alex has a very difficult childhood. He grows up in an orphanage deprived of parental love and care. The two attempts for foster families to adopt him fail and this leaves a mark on his entire life. He feels rejected and disappointed. Alex has been attracted to computers since an early age. They have become his passion and his way to escape from the tough reality. Alex incidentally finds out that he may use the Internet cable as a way of transportation. This puts the beginning of numerous adventures which made me breathless.
Alex supernatural powers give him access to fortunes of which he has not even dreamed. However, he does not forget his past. He turns into a kind of contemporary Robin Hood who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. The novel has a deeper message as it reveals the social injustice which prevails in the world. Some people gain money by committing crimes while others spend all their lives working and hardly manage to make a decent living. The novel also proves that a person should never lose hope that he or she may achieve success in life.
The most influential part of the novel for me is the one when Alex finds out the truth about his parents. He has spent all his life feeling rejected by his parents, and it is really touching when he finally understands what reasons have made them leave him. There is not a single page of the book which I did not like. It absolutely corresponded to my expectations, and, as a matter of fact, it even exceeded them.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I think it is a perfect read. The novel is full of suspense, the plot is extremely intriguing, and the challenges for the main character seem to be endless. I strongly recommend this book to those who love stories full of suspense. As I mentioned earlier, it is not the typical sci-fi novel, so maybe some science-fiction lovers will not be attracted by the novel. I am looking forward to reading the next book of the sequence, as I want to find out what is Alex’s future.
The book is professionally edited, and I did not notice any typos.
