Superhighway, by Alex Fayman, tells the story of a young, intelligent orphan, by the name of Alex Fine. About to begin his first year of college, Alex discovers that he has the extraordinary ability to travel through the Internet and that his mind can download and store any data he chooses. Understanding the struggles of poverty and loneliness, Alex uses his power to take from the rich and crooked of the world and give to the poor and pure, a modern day Robin Hood. But he soon discovers that his actions can cause dangerous consequences. In the first installation of this trilogy, readers will fly through this book as the story unfolds and leaves them wanting more.
Being a fan of fiction, I am drawn to stories that stretch the imagination. With that said, I have never read anything like this. It is unique, fresh and addictive. Many authors stick with the traditional fictional stories about vampires, witches and zombies, but Alex Fayman adventures into a new genre of science fiction. Our lives are, more than ever, connected to “the cloud” and Fayman's story illustrates this in a marvelous fashion.
This book is well-balanced, giving the reader a mixture of adventure, romance, danger and anticipation. An aspect of the book that I enjoyed most was the various, small storylines that connected beautifully to the overall story. It made the book more interesting by not staying on one topic too long, which can sometimes cause boredom.
In my personal opinion, this is definitely a young adult novel so if you are looking for a higher level of sophistication when it comes to the writing, this is not the book for you. However, I love reading young adult novels so the writing did not bother me in the slightest. After a long day at work, sometimes it is nice to read something simple and straight forward.
Any fan of science fiction will love this book. If you are searching for a fresh style of fiction with a touch of everyday life in the mix, I would highly recommend this book. Be prepared to be hooked in the first five pages and not be able to put the book down until you have read the entire story.
With no grammatical errors that caught my attention and no aspect of the book that I disliked, I am rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I can't wait to continue reading the adventures of Alex Fine.
