Yes they are. But with being said, I never go to the library anymore. I rely on my ereader for books.

I think libraries are still relevant. I go to them a couple times a month. If I am in the middle of writing something, I visit it more often. I think I find peace in the library. No one is too loud, and there is a quiet that I find helps me to write.

Yes, because they will always be a place to collect and disperse knowledge. They may become high tech in the future but will always have their place. Just like in the Time Machine. :)

Libraries are VERY relevant! Whether it is you who needs it, or someone down the street. They offer so many resources that allow us to use at our discretion.

Homeschooling resource, public access computers/internet, board game clubs, reading clubs, public assistance, and so much more. My children go to my library every week. Get 5 books each and we explore a different section. It is sometimes easy to teach them something there - using the books on the shelf - while we are spending the afternoon together, rather than trying to come up with the finances to purchase a book that we may only use once or that may not have all the information that we need in it.

Yes! I go to the library ever week, but I've read all the books that they have that are worth reading :)

Of course! I still get most of my books at the library. I'll usually start a series from a library book and if I like it, I'll buy them!

Also, with going to a physical library, they have fun activities like Chess Club, Newberry Club, or the best, book sales.

Absolutely!! I go to my library a couple times a month. It would cost a fortune for me to own all the books I have read from the library.

I think that libraries are still relevant. I really enjoy going to libraries. I like renting all of the different books and authors. Libraries are pretty much heaven on earth for me. I love being surrounded by books.

gladeslibiarian I am so glad you ask that question because recently I've been feeling as if libraries are becoming a forgotten sight. I still think libraries are still relevant I mean don't be fool by all the advertisements how e-books are more popular Deep down I still prefer a a paperback book over a e-book and a audiobook. I like trying different things but I will always go to the library in the summer. At my public library they always have a summer contest. Next month is april I will be borrowing a book.
You know the media tends to make things look worse than what they truly are gosh I can't stand it. Take my word for it Libaries will always be a productive tool and resource in this society.

I happen to be one of the lucky ones with a lovely library just down the street. I visit it as often as possible! Call me old fashioned but I still love the feel of a physical book in my hands. Don't get me wrong, I love and appreciate the ease of an ebook, but for me nothing beats cradling a book in my hands. The library gives me a chance to check out and read all the books I want, before I make the decision to buy my own copy. I think we've all experienced the devastation of purchasing a book (one that we thought we would love) and then it ended up being awful! Time and money down the drain.
Though now that I've found this website.. I may need to visit it less often.

Right! I use both the physical library and overdrive regularly. Unfortunately, our library system is so small, there aren't many good books left to read. I think libraries are great because I always see school kids there doing homework.

I love going to the library! I go at least once a week, more when I can. There are three libraries in my town and there is at least one and sometimes two of them open every day, no matter what day of the week it is (except major holidays, sadly). I love browsing the books for sale. I love seeing what the new releases are (books and movies, though more the movies lately). Sometimes I just wander the aisles until a spine gets my attention. I love taking my 3-year-old grandson. I love that he loves going and sees it as an adventure.

Sometimes when there are a lot of things that look good to me, I end up with my arms full of treasures. Once I get home, I take my time over the next few days to skim through them and decide if I really want to read the whole thing. Then I go back a few days or a week later, drop off the ones that I wasn't really in the mood for, and do it all again.
