Oh it definitely can! Reading has changed my life! Books have always been my one constant companion and they have taught me so many valuable life lessons. I'm always writing down quotes from the books I read and sometimes I'll randomly think of some of them when they apply to a certain life situation I'm going through and they just tend to make my day so much better. I love being able to escape everyday life and go somewhere new and exciting and books have always allowed me to do that. My life would not be half as amazing as it is without books and music :P

Absolutely!

I've read many books in my life, but I can only think of a few that have actually changed it. These books taught me about strength, bravery and be secure in myself.

I firmly believe that if you find a book that teaches something, anything, it has the potential to change your life forever. :)

Reading can change lives! Seriously, when you read a good book you become totally immersed.

Another world, another reality opens up in front of you.

As you step inside that world, wonderful moments of true enlightenment take place and you return to your own little world refreshed, rejuvenated, more thoughtful than when you first entered....and sometimes, it truly does change you

For the better.

Absolutely! My mother in law gave me a book to read called The Shack by William Young, I wouldn't say it turned my blog upside down but it definitely had an impact on my life.

Of course it can. Especially if the person is seriously involved in reading

Books can become great friends.

I am in awe of some writers - most notably - and most currently, Hilary Mantel and her Wolf Hall novel charting the life and times of Thomas Cromwell.

I so wish I could write such powerful prose....

Yes it can. When I go from book to book my diction changes drastically like I have to read a teen book to sound like a should but if I were to read like Shakespeare i would end up speaking in iambic pentameter. Imagine going on a date like that. Not fun.

Definitely! They make us think about things, people, places, situations that we never would have thought about otherwise. They can offer new perspectives on life.

Definitely. As you say, reading a particular book at a specific time in your life can have a massive impact. I made a life altering choice following 'Into The Darkest Corner', by Elizabeth Haynes. I may have made that decision anyway eventually, but it did spur me on!

I think it can. You may just discover a bit of yourself in one of the characters and that experience could give you a bit of insight into your own life.

Yes, I totally agree. At some point, there are some stories that would really move us and change our perspectives. I think some of up have read a book that in one way resembles our experiences.

I believe that they can change your life. I say that because it has happened to me.
I was at a dark place in my life and one day I picked up a book randomly in the Library. It was Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It changed my life. It gave me something to look forward to, it gave lessons and more meaning to me than anything at the time. The whole series showed me how to find happiness again, even if that wasn't the original intent.
So yes, I believe the right books can change your life.

Yes books can change ones life. I also think they can change other peoples lives even if they have not read it. For example when you discuss a book that you have read another person may get an idea from that or it may mean they may read the book which would never of happen. Plus don't forget all those people who have quit smoking due to reading self help books

Of course - the Bible, religious texts, philosophy, history. Look at Darwin's Origen of Species - that changed A LOT and inspired a lot of scientific investigation as well as eugenics. Writing changes people's lives and the course of history.

Absolutely! I once read a book that was to help women make better choices when dating. It worked like a charm and helped me make better decisions.
