Never. I have given away books or donated them to a thrift store, but never thrown it away. (Oh, the horror!) :)

Never. I've had family members that have thrown old books away and it just infuriates me. I have several books that I have taken to my neighborhood used book store for trade credit or have donated to the local schools, but I don't throw them away.

Oh my gosh, never. I would never ever throw a book away. I've only ever donated books or given them to a friend. I've even sold them second-hand. But I would never throw away a book, that's throwing away art.

I never throw away a book I have because I have a feeling of ownership over it and I wouldn't just throw it away, even if my books are damaged I would either sell it or give it away.

I find throwing books away is unnecessary when donating them are more beneficial.

No, I always try to find someone to lend it too - and then I would reiterate that there is no need to give it back  . For those that were still left, I donate them to old libraries.

When I first read the title of this post, I though it was referring to books that are so awful that I literally had to throw them - across the room. I have also done that at least once!

No, I have not. I usually give them away to organisations collecting books for less fortunate children if I no longer want/have any use for them. (When I was in high school a friend of mine said he was going to burn all his books as soon as we graduate.... )

The only time I throw away a book is after the kids have torn it apart, and it has transformed into a coloring book :) Books I've read that I don't enjoy are donated.

I don't think so. I either give away, donate, or sell books I don't want anymore.

I may have thrown away one of my daughter's books that got ruined when she was a toddler, but I can't remember for sure.

Quite the opposite, in fact. I once went dumpster diving to rescue books. One day when I was in high school, the gym teacher had us help clean out a storage room behind the gym. It was mostly old boxes, papers, some broken desk pieces and chairs, but quite a few old books. Somehow they had ended up their by mistake because when I went to my English teacher the next period and told her about the books in the dumpster, she allowed myself and a friend skip the entire class so we could go out to the dumpster, crawl on in there, and salvage as many books as we could. We ended up saving about 3 boxes of books and delivered them to their rightful home in the English department. I still have a 1970's copy of 'The Odyssey' that I dug out of the dumpster that day sitting proudly on my shelf.

As you can guess, no, I almost never throw away books. You might not need it or want it anymore, but someone will.

Yes I have. It was a book called the Red Badge Of Courage that I had to read for school in 7th grade and I HATED it. It deserved to be thrown away.

No I always donate them, however I have gotten into journaling and wanted to start making the covers out of old books. I bought all these boring books from the thrift store hoping it would make it easier to destroy them and I couldn't do it ! so now I make the covers out of stock paper instead of books lol.

Never and I'm never going to! I haven't given them to anyone either. I'm going to keep them and pass them on to any children I might have.
I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
