some books have yes....now 50 Shades of Grey I like the books but they didn't have that effect on me. Everyone I know told me I had to read them and that my hubby would be the happiest guy in the world because I would want some after every time I read it and it just didn't do it for me that way.

I totally agree with you Mishy. If the scene is well written you can feel the character's anticipation, desire and lust.

I don't honestly read books very often that have anything loosely erotic in them. Once in awhile something suggestive will pop up, pun intended and especially if I'm at work, I'll mark my page to read privately...when I blush it starts at my neckline...no wayyy to hide that

Actually I would take it back to "The Story of O" by Pauline Reage (Anne Desclos).

I love reading erotica. In fact I used to write erotic short stories and poems in my college days and sold them. In light of the question I truly believe age and where you are with your sexuality is whether when you read something you get turned on by the material and how it is presented.

Completely agree. The Story of O was exquisite. BDSM at its best. :D

If it is a well written book, it happens. If it is just basically porn, no. I like the build up and a good story line. I also have to be able to visualize what is being talked about. A writer that can make a book come alive for me is my hero!!.

Oh my God YES !

I'm Italian so I naturally get turned on by sensuous, erotic, graphical descriptions of food. We are talking about food? Right?

Food Porn is a whole genre unto itself :P :P :P

Then there is Puppy Porn...for those of us dog obsessed...it's when you go on the adoption sites and just look at all the sweet pretty faces...knowing the two hippos you already have are all you can handle...but just to look...

Pick up a movie called The Big Night if you want to experience "food porn". I'm not kidding. There is a scene in there which takes place, coincidentally, on "the big night", which will initiate you to a whole new level of culinary eroticism.

It's really a good comedic movie ... watch the trailer for a "taste"... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115678/

Oh my goodness Mr DATo ... I am quite overcome (Sorry maybe I'm watching too much Downton Abbey)

I've just noticed the title of this topic ... wonder was that a freudian slip?

Yes I do... I guess it has to do with my active imagination but ever since I discovered books with sex in them I have been getting turned on by them. But of course it also has to do with the writing style of the author.

yes, it does. And in the case of a couple books, like Anne Rice's book Exit To Eden, I found myself turned on and then stopped...looked at what had me all revved up...and thought GEEZ! There are things in literature and/or fantasy that might get a reaction but in real life would not be an option.

After I loaned that book out to a co-worker I found out that works for both genders as well.
