Dose this ever happen to you?

Post by Jessica TheBookLover »

Okay, I have never been turned on by a story, but i know many people do, alot of people say that they read a erotic novel, to get turned on. Maybe its because im only in my 20's. Or maybe im just different. i just want to know, do you ever get turned on by a erotic novel?
Sincerely,
Jessica

When i was a teenager i had been turned on once. Now i don't read erotic novels, but when there is a erotic scene in a novell i am not always turned on. Maybe it's because im in my 30's :)

I used to get turned on from certain books but when I reread them they did nothing for me. I think that it has a lot to do with being desensitized to the reading material. After a certain point erotic scenes just become another few pages of a book.

Some erotic books(or scenes in the book) are so well written that evocation of sexual titillation is inevitable.

I think it depends on the book, really, but speaking as a late twenties male, yes I have been turned on by reading. There are quite a few books that are just written well and work for me I guess. I have to say that Maljean Brook gets me every time in the Iron Seas series. But I digress...

I prefer to read romance versus erotica but I have been turned on many times by well written material.

I find that the scene itself is very minimal in the stimulation. I have to be so submerged in the story that I basically fall in love (not romantic love) with the characters and have to know what's happening next. Those are usually the books where ithe story ends on a good note but I wish I could continue hearing how their lives turn out. The characters become real for me. They aren't just ink or text on paper or screen.

In short yes I have been turned on but it was the relationship between the characters not the act itself.

Yes, especially if the sexual tension is built up really well between the characters. There are a lot of really good erotica books out there that do this well and then there are a lot that read like a really bad porno.

I'm in my 20s also and sometimes I do get turned on by them. But with me it's usually my over active imagination running away with me when reading. I just start picturing a whole bunch of things even adding to what I've read. I guess everyone's different when it comes to what floats your boat and what doesn't

Definitely. I'm in my 30's and I do get turned on by books. But it has to be well written, otherwise it just earns an eyeroll.
I don't know if it's the actual writing, or the possibility of reenacting the scene the turns me on though.
