Review of Terms of Service
We have all watched movies where the villain wants a perfect world where everyone has what is required to survive, and the world operates in a unique and controlled way. Well, that's the case in this book, and that unique way is controlled by the AIs.
The story revolves around a smart, tech-savvy geek, Kim, who's been working with the artificial intelligence company for five years now and who lives in a world that is run and controlled by AIs. Yes, I know what you're thinking—what would living in such a world be like? Read this book to know more.
Terms of Service is a fictional fantasy book written by Craig W. Stanfill. It is a 489-page book with three parts and nineteen chapters. Even if many of us don't like the dawn of the new age of technology or hearing about how the world would one day be taken over by machines of various kinds, this is a book that gives us an insight on how life like that would be, and that's one of the things I liked about the book. I liked the fact that I got to know more about how efficiently AIs can work when set up perfectly, and the author did justice to that by carrying us along by showing us how things are run in Kim's apartment. Starting with the time she gets up from bed to what she eats and even what she wears, everything is selected by the house bot. I liked the headset that was being used by commuters in this book, as it served as a navigation tool to help commuters meet with their programmed routes designed by the AIs. Everything was so organized and planned, just the way I liked doing things.
Another thing I liked about this book was the metric point system being used by AIs to credit commuters for good behavior. There was a time Kim was rewarded by the AIs for good behavior. She liked it because she thought she'd eventually improve upon her current Baa2 cohesion rating and move from District 10 to someplace nicer, perhaps the edge of District 8 if she was lucky.
There was something I disliked about this book, and the thing is, I am not a tech enthusiast, so I wasn't very knowledgeable about this AI stuff, which made me unable to follow up on some parts of the book. I would rate this book four out of five stars because of my dislike of the book as described above. I did not find any errors, which means the book was well-edited. Furthermore, I recommend this book to readers who like sci-fi novels and who would like to learn more about AIs.
