“Secrets of the Kashmir Valley” by Farhana Qazi is a book that takes readers on a journey to explore the lives of six million people that live in the Kashmir Valley with 60% of them Muslims. The remainder includes Christians, Hindus and Buddhists. This valley has been fought over by India and Pakistan for the past 70 years. Farhana relates a fair and unbiased view of the people that live with a complicated mix of politics, history and culture. Qazi was very thorough in her research and the result is a fascinating story about the people in this region. Women are raised to be fighters and many of them have served during the ongoing wars. Women also serve in the Kashmir government. A very interesting story.
