Serene scenery, a resilient lawyer, and mysterious misdemeanors. All this can be found in David Myles Robinson's crime novel, Tropical Scandal. Pancho McMartin, who plays the main character and narrator, is a criminal defense attorney based in Oahu, Hawaii. His job is already tough enough as it is, seeing that he defends potential criminals in court. However, his stress levels increase when he is handed a case that involves both drug trafficking and homicide. Although his client, Dayton Kalama, is a drug dealer, Pancho is certain that Dayton is not a murderer, especially since the victim is his grandmother. With the help of his best friend and private investigator, Drew Tulafono, as well as his lover, Padma Dasari, Pancho seems willing to defend the life of his client at all costs.

This book was fantastic to read. Everything could be vividly imagined since it was so descriptive. I adored how the author added a few jokes to each chapter to lighten the tone of the book. I adored the backdrop of Hawaii because it gave the book a sense of peace. The short chapter length was a wonderful feature. Finally, I adored the book's title and cover. That's what first drew me to this book.

Nothing about this book makes me want to despise it. It was so simple to read. It moved along smoothly and kept my interest the entire time.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. It wasn't your standard crime book. It had just the right amount of romance, comedy, conflict, and suspense. Even if there were a few errors, it had good editing. The author's extensive research into all things law is clear to the reader.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves crime novels and thrillers, as it leaves you in suspense. Romance enthusiasts would also enjoy this book because we get insight into the protagonist’s love life. This book contains moderate sexual content and vulgar language, so I don’t recommend it to underage readers.
