Scott L. Chally, author of "The Glorious Beast," has released a novel with a series of genre-defying elements complemented by the humor, suspense, action, drama, romance, politics, and religion found throughout the work. It tells the story of two seventh-grade boys who become best friends after one helps the other out in a bullying incident. Fast forward ten years, and they end up as entrepreneurs. They create a delivery business but end up being chased by the mafia. This leads to them being involved in successful drug runs, which makes them a ton of money, and thus they are able to feed this money back into their business and expand it quickly.

Scott L. Chally is known for his conversational and accessible nature in writing and his dry sense of humor with serious themes. The narrative is broken up by dialogue that is genuine, feels sincere, and expresses the reality of daily communications and the intricacies of the human connection. Chally's storytelling is engaging and compelling, drawing readers into a world that is both familiar and extraordinary.

One of the strengths of The Glorious Beast is that it offers a rich tapestry of genres, ensuring there is something for all kinds of readers. The way the novel effortlessly transitions between moments of high comedy and extreme drama makes it very compelling to read, and the numerous unexpected turns of events keep one on edge throughout. Structurally, the firm commitment to decent character development shines through; every character in the novel has a distinct personality, and most of them undergo a fascinating arc over the course of the narrative. Also praiseworthy is the extent of the novel’s ambitions; it deals not only with the subjects of business, mental illness, and political idealism but also manages to do so to a fraction of success.

While "The Glorious Beast" has many strengths, it is not without its flaws. Some readers might find the rapid progression of events and the multitude of genres somewhat overwhelming. The novel's ambitious scope can occasionally lead to a lack of focus, with certain plotlines feeling underdeveloped. However, this does not diminish the book's overall quality.

As a reader, I found "The Glorious Beast" to be a captivating and enjoyable read. The blend of humor and drama resonated with me, and I appreciated the depth of character development. The protagonist's journey from a bullied schoolboy to a successful entrepreneur entangled in a world of crime and politics was both inspiring and cautionary. There was nothing that I disliked about the book. It is exceptionally well-edited. There were no grammatical errors. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

In conclusion, "The Glorious Beast" is a bold and imaginative novel that offers a unique reading experience. Despite its occasional flaws, it stands out for its originality, humor, and thought-provoking themes. Scott L. Chally's work is a testament to the power of storytelling, even in the face of personal challenges like dyslexia. This book is recommended for readers who enjoy a diverse mix of genres and are open to a story that dares to dream big.
