I see him as a kid imagining that he is one like what every kids do. I see it as a part of imaginative play. But the page were he flew was upfront to tell that he is one although subsequent pages exhibit a superhero trying to be child as well. :) We have to wait for the next books for us to find out.

Toni is absolutely a superhero from my point of view. My take is that the concept "superhero" is changing. Aspects of saving the entire world from a villain are overshadowed, even silhouetted by the normal, mundane, day to day responsibilities in the superhero's life. In other words, your immediate family and community should be the first to attest to your "superhero-ness", (if such a word exists), before others out there.

Children are taught at a young age that superheroes are people with amazing abilities. Toni doesn't show any superhero abilities in this book, but there are other books to come so perhaps his ability will be revealed. If Toni's superhero ability is that he is a helper or that he is comfortable enough to do all things dressed in his superhero costume then so be it. But I don't think there is a clear idea of what it is about Toni that makes him a superhero.

I kind of agree with the fact that as a first installment, it might still dangle in the mind of the author whether he is an actual hero who saves the world or just a really good kid whose diligence makes him a superhero...

I have a different spin to the story from yours. I think the author was trying to depict that being a superhero does not mean that one has to fly or have other super abilities. Base was teaching kids that doing house chores and socialising makes one a 'hero'. Social responsibility like saving cats stuck on trees also makes one a hero. The unique angle Base gives to the superhero story makes it a great read after all.

Yes, he is. Tony is a superhero to the kids because now they'll have to learn from him. So, Toni can be considered a superhero by the kids.

He saves animals from trees. He helps people, like his mom, when she need it. He's a superhero.

Yes really!, Tony is super hero because he uses the superpower given to him to benefit other and not just help himself. selflessness is essential quality of a super hero
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Yes! There is no doubt about that, he is a superhero because of the actions he put up during this his tender age.

I think Toni is a superhero who is shown to be doing ordinary things, such as chores and reading. I guess it’s to help make him relatable to children reading and so they see themselves as superheroes too for doing regular good activities and chores.

I am not sure Toni is a superhero, as the author didn't show more about how Toni used his superpower to do things. But, every children tends to admire super hero stories. So, I think this is why the author create the theme and title to attract children to read it. Lets looking forward on new series of the book to see what superpower Toni has. :P

Yes, I think he has been presented as a unique kind of a superhero. The purpose is basically that the other kids get motivated to engage in day-to-day chores thinking of those as accomplishments. Kids are fascinated by the idea of a superhero, so doing things which can make them feel like one becomes automatically attractive for them.

Sure he's a superhero; for kids. It's a children's book so let's look from their perspective.

Tony does nothing extra ordinary, he participates in activities ordinary kids can do.I don't think he is a super hero.
