Even the process of getting Will into Echoland was uncomfortable. The way he left his parents was sad and he did not know whether fate sealers would let them live.Kro92813 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 01:34Oh yes. Super uncomfortable! It was definitely a nod at what dangers were to comeFerdinand_otieno wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 00:02But just the attack and watching his parents appear frozen in death. it must have been a rude awakening to the kind of danger he faced, it was particularly uncomfortable for me.
Did certain parts of the book make you uncomfortable?

Yeah, as far as we knowKro92813 wrote: ↑29 Sep 2019, 22:28Atleast they don't eat the dead wolf pops in the book...as far as we know...Jachike 1 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2019, 14:35Imagine what it feels like for me then, coming from a culture where people actually relish eating dog meat. The Game Keeper and Fate Sealers willingness to harm pets especially the drowning of puppies came off as overly uncomfortable for me.

I quite agree that some certain scenes might put a reader of ease, especially be cruel to animals.
But, this could be used to depicts actions of villains.
Thank you for such a touching question.

I understand! Do you think it should have been more effective if it hD been a mongrel baby? I think that would have taken it too far even though you know its implied that that happensJachike 1 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 02:07The author was trying to paint an accurate picture of the cruelty of the times. And while his depiction got the intended reaction, I just wish it wasn't with pups getting drowned or any kind of animal or human maltreatment. But I get that it was necessary so kudos to the author.

I agree it showed the heartlessness of the villains! And if villians don't make you uncomfortable then they aren't very good villians!

She subtly helped will throughout the book - when she first met him she knew who he was but didnt rat him out. She broke the blinker as a facade but didnt rat him out with that either. She did come off as a grumpy old bat though! HahaFerdinand_otieno wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 09:04 I felt uncomfortable reading about Pellucid in the story. I was beside myself waiting to find out whether she was an antagonist or not. Her character was deliberately vague in her motives throughoit the book.

Wasnt it the game keeper who drowned the pups?MellaBella wrote: ↑30 Sep 2019, 13:34 The drowning wolf Cubs was definitely the worst part for me. I wanted to somehow hop in the book and set Wither Heart on fire!

Thanks for your thought and taking the time to point out more good than what creeps me out.
