It is a mystery to me how it got categorized as a romance. I would have liked more depthness in Kelly and Tom's relationship as well. I think it would have rounded out the story more.

I see this book as a sci-fi book laced with a romance theme. I wouldn't place it in the genre of romance.

For people on a honeymoon there sure was a lack of romance. Isn't that the time when you're supposed to be the most excited and in love? I agree with what others said. Tom and Kelly didn't have that strong of a connection for being newlyweds.

The novel is far more plot-driven than character-driven, leaning towards action and suspense instead of relationships between characters. I don't have any specific complaints per se, I just didn't find the romance engaging.
I agree I was confused about why this book was labeled as romance. And maybe some readers would pass upon reading this for that reason.

Do you think many readers would pass the opportunity to read this book because it is labeled romance when that is not the case?

Lol, I forget the fact that these two are on a honeymoon.

Which was weird and lacking the enjoyment of the book, for not getting the connection for a newlywed couple!

I assumed that this would be a romance novel with splatters of action based on the name; clearly, I was wrong.

Right? Not super believable!

I think it can be called a romance story since Kelly and Tom were honeymooning in Honduras. It just doesn't focus on their relationship because of the constant action.

Tom and Kelly's relationship needed to be more developed and I wish some more focus had been placed on their relationship. But I actually enjoyed Sharon and Steve's relationship more because of their banter.

People are different. I guess the author had romance in mind but it turned out that the plot had more of a sci-fi theme. I don't think readers would take a pass on the book, except they are averse to sci-fi books.

AntonelaMaria wrote: 01 Dec 2019, 11:11 How do you feel about romance and relationships in this book? Would you categorize this book as a romance novel? What relationship was the most interesting one?

I wouldn't put this book in a romance genre. Maybe suspense/action. There was hardly any romance in it. Except for Kelly and Tom being married, and the possible relationship between Sharon and Steve. Speaking of Tom and Kelly's marriage I didn't feel the connection between them. I did love the relationship Kelly had with her brother Mike. I think that was my favorite relationship in the book.
Although I have not read the novel, I noticed that in some novels where the characters are already married, their romantic connection isn't always as intense as stories with budding relationships.
You have a good point. But I was thinking more in terms of this not being particularly romance novel despite their connection or marriage.
Okay I understand.

I was surprised that not much romance was flaunted in this book, contrary to its title.

I agree with you, I will categorize this book under action/suspense rather than romance. I felt no connection between Kelly and Tom. There wasn't much of romance in this book, but it successfully drives you through lots of action and suspence.
