I love historical fiction novels especially ones set in the 70s so I'll definitely be checking this out. Matt seems like an interesting character. Great review!

I'm certain I'd get Confused with the descriptions of how to fly, but I would still love to read about it. What stands out most to me is the idea around seizing moments. I dare say the protagonist is disciplined and resilient.

The depiction of the aviation industry during the recession is timely and relevant. The industry is once again facing challenges because of the pandemic. Thanks for the insights.

I admire Matt's character. He found himself in an uncomfortable (and illegal) predicament and allowed his ethics to lead. That can be a difficult path to follow. Unfortunately, I have little interest in piloting or Cuban history, so I'll be skipping this one. Thanks for the informative review!

This sounds like a really interesting book. I am sure I would get a little bogged down with Matt's description of airplanes as well. Thanks for a great review.

The historical parts I am draw to but the romance is a hard no from me. I just can not stand that in books.

What a great read this book must be, with romance, self-discovery issues and the historical context of Carter's and Reagan's governments. And You did a great job with the review. Thank You!

A historical fiction that explores themes such as friendship, faith, love, endurance, and seizing moments may prove worthy of attention. My Cuban history could do with a bit of brushing up on; I won't mind giving Sticks in the Clouds a try. Thanks for the great review!

Historical fiction along with romance is a tough act and the review seems to indicate that the writer has just done the perfect balancing through his novel.. The first chapter is entertaining and it has succeeded in keeping me intrigued to read more.. I hope the rest of the book matches the quality of the first chapter.

It seems like Matt is a highly-principled man and he is about to face more challenging situations in this interesting novel. I am looking forward to digging into this book to know Matt more and the choices he makes.

This being a historical fiction is what made it interesting to me. I really don't expect it to be accurate, though, so I'm just looking forward to the perspective it will show me.

This is a very well-thought out historical fiction novel. The reader follows Matt, a pilot who is caught in the middle of illegal activity when he discovers illegal bullets on board a plane he flies. The reader will be pleased to see that Matt decides to leave his job and manages to get another job with another airline.

This book focuses on the early 1900s in the US as well as in Cuba. As such, the reader also gets history lessons. The language is very descriptive and engaging which draws the reader into the novel. There is also some romance in the novel. The reader will see Matt fall slowly but surely for Olga, one of the female protagonists in the novel.

I will recommend this book for anyone who loves books that focus on historical accounts of past events as well as those who love romance plots. :D :D
