I like this review, especially how it highlights how children are victimised by poor parenting on instances of divorces due to the character flaws that may arise from the parents conduct after divorce and also how therapy may not always work as we expect it to. I can tell this book is an interesting read for all men just from the review. The twist of single parenting from a masculine perspective is a really rare experience even much more being shared by a man. Great review.

I am very intrigued by the title. What has snow got to do with a derby? Do Paul and Mickey stand a chance at the race? Too bad I was unable to get a free copy of the book. Only the paperback version is available in my area.

This is indeed a novel from a rare perspective as novels focusing on the single-parent experience is usually from the female POV, as the posters above have mentioned. The story flows from the narrator single father's POV and is an emotional, heartfelt story of a father trying to bond with his son over a Derby race project.
However I would not give this book 5/5 but 4 points instead. This is because the narrator is using language a bit too verbose and pretentious for describing emotional context and everyday situations involving family and kids. It sounds unnatural.
This book could benefit from editing.

Paul Peterson seems to be traying his level best to be a dad and raise up his three children. I guess the book has many lessons that readers could glean apart from just enjoying the story itself.
