Though only a few pages long, the review depicts this book contains more than most books. It possesses a unique perspective I believe everyone should see from

The themes involved sound both powerful and sensitive, making the book simultaneously emotional, painful, and worth a try, I think. I like how it sounds loosely based on the writer’s own experiences, providing it with a solid foundation that means that at least some readers will be able to relate to it. I’m too busy for it right now, but I’ll keep it on my list for later. Thank you for the helpful review.

A fictional coming of age story that's inspired by the author sounds interesting. The traversed theme of acceptance does well with me. I'm adding the book to my TBR list. Thanks for the review.

This was an eloquently written review of a sensitive book. Even before explaining the theme of the book in this review, the reader gets the hint in how you have mentioned in the first line that it's a fictional "coming-of-age" story. Reading books like these are super important to sensitize oneself and people around you to the emotions and the struggles of LGBT community. I'll be sure to pick this one up encouraged by your review and the rating of this book. Thank you! :)

I like that the book deals with such heavy and intense topics. The book is intriguing but quite emotionally charged. Thank you a well-written review.

I understand. Given the current pandemic, I'm gravitating toward lighter content, too. Thanks for your comment.

Laura Lee wrote: 26 Apr 2020, 18:22 Thanks for another insightful review. I have a question for you: you said that the protagonist blamed himself for not asking about the medicine that made his mother's hair fall out But . . . he would have been 12 to 13. That seems a bit old to be oblivious to the significance of what was going on with his mother. Did you find that element believable? It sounds like a very well-written book. Thanks again for your review, @Cecilia_L. I always enjoy your well-written reviews.
I got the impression that it had more to do with family dynamics, so in that context, I found it believable. Thanks for your kind words.
