Incentives by George Franklin is a non-fiction book comprising of 43 brief chapters and 286 pages. The book is obviously a well-crafted piece, with its foundation drawn from the author's experiences and creativity. Red has not had a fulfilled life, he seems to have fallen short of his expectations. The arrival of a few twisted personalities would eventually ensure the unexpected economic prosperity of the town called Glenn (not a spoiler), though just for a short while. Red gets an opportunity of a lifetime by craftily designing ideas obtained from an array of crazed individuals, and proposes them to the integrity deprived persons of power who in turn facilitate the establishment of unscrupulous entities with the sole aim of self-satisfaction. To what extent would the charades affect the small town of Glenn? What weird circumstances would ensue from the acceptance of these entities in the society? How does power corrupt and absolute power corrupt absolutely? What would eventually become of Red and all involved with him? This book will provide answers you seek in a manner that will leave you mesmerized and laughing all the way.

Incentives introduces each character in an emphatic and intriguing manner. It sets the stage for continued laughter and shock as the reader consumes the content within. The book though politically inclined is relatable when compared to the corrupt tactics employed by people of power (in this day and age) with the main aim of self enrichment, which I considered quite enlightening (especially if those in power actually audit and approve ideas that easily). The comedy from the onset is of very high quality, designed in a mature and intelligent way. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, though characters like Boone, Brooke, Jaap, Armando, and Rosa to name a few, who utilized controversial measures in trying to achieve their aspirations which I found a little unappealing.

Apart from the overall circumstances of some political hooligans, I enjoyed every aspect of the book, as well as the steady build up of the story's plot.

My rating of the book is a 4 out of 4 as it is well-edited, interesting, funny, enlightening, and creative. I found no errors while reading through the book. Funny enough the name incentive actually describes the author's idea in essence, as unscrupulous individuals utilize their mental capabilities and available opportunities (incentives) to enrich themselves in unheard ways.

I recommend the book to readers seeking unending giggles and laughter (comedy) as this book has such in strides.
