Does anyone have strong feelings on how to pronounce her name? In my head I've been saying "Kuh-LAY-nuh" but was curious how other folks interpret it.

Personally, I don't have particularly strong feelings on how to pronounce her name (because a lot of the characters have very complicated names to pronounce) However, Sarah J Maas had/has a pronunciation guide published in one of the first few editions of the books, and online, which covers the main characters' names, some places in Arldaran and, phrases about the Wyrds, et cetera.

In the guide, she specifically breaks Celaena's full name as "Sell-Lay-Nah Sar-Doth(like cloth)-Ee-En "

This is also on the fandom wiki page, in case you can't find a copy of the book with the guide in it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I'd say, overall, my rating for it as a whole would be around 4 stars out of 5, with some books receiving 3 stars and others 5 stars. It is a series I would still recommend though, even pushing past some of the problems I had with individual books. The characters are great and the fact that she can get me to hate a character I initially loved and then turn it back around and make me love him even more than I did initially is seriously impressive. Talk about a developed character. Kingdom of Ash was a super close 5 star book for me, but there was one major plot point I just couldn't get past so it lost a star.

I absolutely Sarah J Maas' writing, and I've been a huge fan of the Throne of Glass Series since I first read it in 2014. I'm currently rereading it to refresh so I can read Kingdom of Ash. I have to say: I absolutely love so many things about the series, from the setting and plot to the world building and character development. I just finished reading Queen of Shadows for the second time. I feel that judging from the way the story progressed from the beginning till this point in the series, it wouldn't have been unreasonable if she'd decided to end the series at QoS, however, seeing as there were a few strings that needed to be tied, and a few new characters that were introduced, it makes sense that Maas decided otherwise. So far, I'd give the series 4.5 stars out of five, only because I feel like a certain character's actions in Queen of Shadows are quite out of character. Otherwise, I absolutely love the series, and I'm excited to one day finally read Kingdom of Ash.

I love this entire series. Through I'll admit I was kinda sad that celaena wasn't as powerful as she once was at the end. I wish the gift the goddess gave to her was as much as before

From the very first page it pulls the reader in and one is taken on various adventures in this unique fantasy world that only Sarah J. Maas can create. Her writing style throughout this series is incredible. I remember the constant feeling of awe I had at each plot twist, and I did not want to wait between books. This series is very close to my heart. I began reading it during what I consider to be the worst time of my life. Reading about Celaena, this strong, intelligent female protagonist became my constant reminder to have courage despite the obstacles I faced. I became attached to all the characters and experienced the emotional turmoil of not knowing what will happen to them. There were times I cried while reading this series, but there were more times when I laughed out loud and even more times when I felt like this world was all I knew. I love the fact that Sarah J. Maas incorporates cultural diversity, fast paced action, and political aspects. She weaves her tales in the most intriguing ways. She is truly an exceptional author.

I absolutely loved this series! The world that Sarah J. Maas created is amazing. Celeana is fierce, stubborn, and intelligent. Her character development throughout the series is phenomenal. I loved that Celeana started out the series as an accomplished assassin. She was able to use those past experiences to help her navigate the different situations that are thrown at her. It was a fantastic read! I recommend this series to anyone!

I absolutely loved the Throne of Glass series! Now that it's finished, I hope that her next adult fantasy series is as thrilling and hooks me just as much. For those of you that loved this book, go check out her other series, A Court of Thorns and Roses! It's quite a different story, but it hooks you all the same.

I absolutely love Sarah J Maas. Her writing is gripping, and her stories and characters are incredibly well developed. Both of her series are absolutely amazing.

This is one of my favorite series. I think Sarah J. Maas's writing is absolutely phenomenal. Her stories are well developed as well as her characters. I am about half way done with Kingdom of Ash right now and I cannot wait to see how this series ends!

In my head, I read Celaena as Se-lee-na or Se-lay-na. Partly due to Selena being a femme fatale name used before. Thought maybe they could be influences? To me, it looks like a fantasy spelling of Selena or Celena. It rolls off the tongue and gives her a girly vibe. According to J.R.R. Tolkien, the 'ae' string ought to be said "I" or "eye." He also set a rule in his lore that says no word beginning with C should sound like 'S.' There's loads of english words that do though.
There's other people and place names I'm not 100% on. Chaol I pronounce "Kale." Endovier I say "Endo-veer" rather than "Endov-ee-air." Perranth I say "Purr-anth"

I love love love Manon (and her Thirteen) and Lysandra--I believed the series to be mediocre at best before those characters emerged in HoF and QoS, and after that I couldn't put any of the following books down.

I loved this book entirely. It was the perfect kick-off to an amazing series. I loved the characters, the plot and the plot twists. It was an amazing reading and I would highly recommend not only reading the book but the entire throne of glass series too. You won't regret it.
