I think that while natural options can certainly help with anxiety, it cannot cure it alone. It's the same theory as "you can take a walk to get your mind off your depression but taking walks cannot cure your depression." At the end of the day, anxiety is a mental disorder which means that a chemical imbalance is the root of the problem. Traditional medication can help even out the chemicals in your brain, making them much more efficient. However, meditation and yoga or any other natural way to cope with anxiety should be paired with medication because they are still important. :tiphat:

I really appreciate the content of the book. Undoubtedly everybody should prefer meditation and natural methods to not only relieve their stress and anxiety but also dwell on it on a regular basis. But sometimes the harm done by our stress levels is too big to be ignored that it becomes mandatory to use medications . A really great approach by the author of the book. Deserving to be the BOTM

I believe Holistic methods can be safely incorporated into our lifestyle which benefits us immensely in the long run, and medicines can help when we absolutely need them. This way they are both complementary and serve our health and well-being.

It depends with the level of anxiety/stress in my opinion. High levels of stress require intensive and immediate medical attention to prevent conditions such as hypertension from arising. I think this level of stress cannot be adequately catered for by other conventional means

I honestly believe that natural methods work really well. Running and meditating always help me feel less anxious and I often feel more relieved.

Most mild levels of stress can be solved by either channeling them into something positive or simply by natural remedies like meditation or breathing exercises. Only in case, the stress levels reach high levels, I think the medication route should be considered. Also, for those cases still, herbal medicine should be more preferable than sythetic drugs you may get addicted to.

Yes, true. Natural remedies should be part of the regular lifestyle. In case medication becomes mandatory, do you think herbal remedies can be a better solution rather than other medications. Both can have side-effects and herbal meds can be tricky as well. But do you consider herbal preferable than other drugs?

Herbals do not have side effects. It is that every medication has its own specified way in which it needs to be opted. Of course herbals are much better than other drugs, but the main problem that appears with their use is that they take time in healing rather being instantaneous most of the times. So if any disease that requires immediate concern and treatment drugs seem to be better option

Natural supplements are great, but don’t always work on everyone. It’s worth a try before you turn to synthetic medications.

I agree. Methods like meditation and yoga are good, but should not be substituted for medications. They are complimentary and can work together to achieve the desired result.

I am a big fan of anything natural. For most of my life, I wouldn’t take any kind of “medicine”, even over the counter. As a kid, I used to throw up every medicine they tried to give me- come to find out, I was allergic to aspirin ( they didn’t have a lot of options then). May be why I disliked medicines when I was older. I always had a hard time swallowing pills anyways.
However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve developed a few chronic conditions, to the point of almost not being functional without medications, so they’ve become somewhat of a “necessary evil”.
I always try a natural remedy first, but if that just does seem to help- then I (reluctantly) take the prescriptions. For routine ailments, I truly believe natural treatments are the way to go. But for serious and/or chronic conditions, I believe we sometimes need to look to the mainstay medical establishment.

I wrote a memoir for one of my clients who is a breast cancer survivor and part of that memoir contained her journey to adopting natural remedies for the complications that resulted from her chemotherapy.

She went into remission (and has stayed there, thankfully), according to her, because she combined the natural remedies with her conventional treatment.

In my opinion, however, I always feel like there must be a natural connection to every form of remedy we administer to our bodies because then, there will be a balance that is accounted for.

I have a background in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and I have grown to understand that even though some of the compounds that are synthesized in all forms of drugs and conventional medical treatments occur naturally in nature, there is no limit to how much they can be tweaked to yield completely new compounds (that are now non-natural).

With this view, I believe combining natural remedies with other traditional medical drugs and treatments is a must to maintain balance; the kind of balance that can ensure longevity of the human body.

In my experience, they can substitute pharmacological options as long as you find the exact combination of methods (diet, yoga, supplements, etc) that works for you and you keep consistent in a healthy and balanced lifestyle. What I think can't be substituted is the need for counseling or therapy to change our mindset and to be able to keep up the changes that reduce anxiety and stress. But, of course, pharmacological options work faster and if someone's life is severely disrupted it might be the best path.

Natural options and modern medication go hand in hand. As for me, that's the best option.

I think that modern medicines can and do save lives and are benificial. However, I do not beleive that the tradiitonal meds should be discounted and ignored. There are treatments using natural remedies that treat ailments that modern medicines have serious side effects but the natural remedy does not. Personally, I try the natural remedies before anything else, including going to the doctor.
