Galen was my favorite character and I believe he played his role as the main character well. I had an immediate connection with him, since we are first introduced to Voulhire through his eyes. The eyes of someone who knew little more about Voulhire than the reader. I thought that this was a great way to introduce a new world.

Asides the fact that I enjoyed Galen, I believe he was a suitable to be the main character as he journeyed from the land of the princes to Voulhire and got his inheritance. He was best suited to be the main character.

I was thinking about it while i was reading this book. Galen shouldn't be the central character of the story since all the characters played significant roles. However, since most the book was narrated through his point of view, I saw reasons to agree with the author.

I'm also trying to figure out who is the main character. Though the author is building the voulhirian Kingdom's, Galen's character is not yet fully developed. As I understand the introduction, it looks like Galen is the narrator when he enters the kingdom for the sake of his uncle's business.

I think that choosing such a naive and natural character works the best in long book series. It gives the reader the chance to watch him grow as he is progressing in his hero's journey.

I think it’s just fitting that Galen Bray was the protagonist. Like a reader diving into the story for the first time, we get to see the world of Voulhire the same way he, a refugee, perceives it. I think this was the intention of the author upon making him the MC. However, in this installment, I didn’t feel his presence enough? He wasn’t promising enough as a character. In the second book, that’s the only time he made some development.

You are right, but think of the case if he never met Rowan and never got the chance to go to Alcovia or Soulhire. Think of his meetings with the people around him who made most of his decisions. I am a bit skewed to that side and would suggest that he was just one among the few protagonists of the book.
Truly, Galen is one among the few protagonists in the story. He probably would have been a bland character without Rowan and Demi, or he might have landed himself in the company of bad guys like Maido or Meldorath 😉 (what do you think about this). Either way, the author has chosen the character of Galen as protagonist, and protagonist he shall remain.
Oh boy! Thats actually a topic in itself. Had a naive Galen fallen into the hands of Meldorath, how would the story unfold? Unlike Beth, I don't think Galen would immediately become subserviant to Meldorath. Galen was starving for friends. I think his friendship with Meldorath will be shortlived.
I believe Rowan played more role in helping explore voulhire in this plot driven story. He was the one doing things out of the blue bringing a lot of things to the reader. It was as if Galen was an audience in his expenditure.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

I think Galen fits for the role of the protagonist. He played his role well. He is the link between the land of the princes and Voulhire. Through his eyes, we get to see the situation of things in his territory. Some of the other important characters- like Rowan are associated with him as well.

I think he is indeed fit to be the main character. The fact that he is new in Voulhire brings in another perspective that to me, adds freshness and depth to the narration. For those who've read the sequels, we later see how instrumental he is to the salvation of Voulhire.

I think that since the series is all about Voulhire, Galen (who is not from Voulhire) should not be the main character in this series.

Galen being a refugee in Voulhire gives a fresh perspective to how one would view the land and the people in it. I was a bit frustrated with how subdued he was but then I realised his past would do that to anyone and the suffering he went through would humble him. Galen is the character we view Voulhire through but there are so many major characters in this story like Meldorath, Demetrius, Rowan and others that I can't particularly say he is the main character, we simply get to view most of the story from his perspective.

I don't agree naming Galen to be the main character/protagonist in book 1. I find his character too shallow compared to the others, even to the bad guys. I think Galen is more of a representation of us readers. He is more of an observer than an active participant in whatever is happening or will happen to Voulhire. But then again this is just book 1 😊😊😊

For me, Eldus almost stole Galen's thunder. If Eldus survived, he could be a great contender for Galen as main character, but Galen is also a charismatic character. His unfolding adventure is to look out for and I hope he succeeds in his endeavors.

I think that Galen as a character contibutes to the story but I'm not sure about his position as the main character. I wanted to learn more about him, but the author treated him like every other character. This is definitely something that can be improved upon.
