This sounds like a book I will have to check out, as I've been enjoying some cozy mysteries also set in South Florida. I don't mind if a writer takes creative liberties with the landscape in a work of fiction, but I can see that being irksome to people who live there and know the place well. I wonder, are there any plans for a sequel?

Great review, as always. I read another review on the same book by another member, two different perspectives with more or less the same result.

As I mentioned in another post, without the thoughtful reviews I would probably have passed on this one. The cover seems to imply a completely different book, and though it's wrong to judge on cover alone, there are so many books that immediately catch my attention that some get lost in the choosing process.

Congrats to both reviewers and the author for having Miami Iced chosen as BOTD. I will definitely be checking this one out!

after taking into account your review, I feel it is important when highlighting a certain area that locations or mention re: the area should be on point, belaying that some errors can of course be forgiven if the characters and plot are likeable without having large plot holes (which it sounds like this book has accomplished). I just picked it up today for reading purposes. I may check back in with my thoughts after finishing it if not here then at amzn.

Thanks Mile_Lang! The book is one of the best review books I've read since joined this site. However, I do agree with you that the cover doesn't match the story! It seems more suited to a sci-fi book.

I hope I wasn't too petty about the location discrepancies I noticed. They are minor issues in an otherwise wonderful book.

Hello Bookowlie, I enjoyed your review and it made me want to read the book. I'm new to the online book club, and this is the first review I have read in the club. It seem like you have a lot of experience in writing reviews or just writing period, you used some good words to express the book and I will be reading this book. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. :) I actually reread my review this morning since I had written it a year ago. Looking back, I think I rambled on a little too much, especially about the location issues. Anyway, I think you will love this book!

This sounds terrific! Character development is a must for a book to be considered literature. Looking forward to reading it.

Thanks for the great review, bookowlie. What a great angle, I think, to write a mystery from the point of view of a person witnessing the trial. I wonder how the author gets someone in the audience of a trial, involved in the mystery? I got to read this just to find out. :reading-6:

Thanks for the very interesting and entertaining review! I was laughing through the paragraph when you compared her writing to the Yellow Pages and McDonald's menu. If she could turn around McDonald's recent decline, then perhaps she should become a consultant to them...submit your review to them (and a sample of her writing)!

Wow! You really make me want to read this! I'm glad it was offered for free today. I love what you said about the author being able to reverse McDonald's decline. Hilarious! Fantastic review!
