Great review. I honestly love how you stated that you did not enjoy the book at the begging but things began to change as the Sheriff was an unpredictable person with crazy schemes.

When you said that I was instantly intrigued. Now I want to read the book for myself.

I also am a fan of CMTS novels and not a stranger to books written by Randall Reneau, but unfortunately, I will have to pass this one. No offense, it is nothing personal or has anything to do with the story itself. Sadly, it is because of the colour of Mexico used and my unpleasant experience with the country. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

"South of Good" by Randall Reneau is a gripping crime novel featuring Sheriff Hardin Steel, aka "Stainless," as he navigates the treacherous Mexico-Texas border. When a drug bust goes awry, Steel and his buddy Wes find themselves entangled with a major drug lord, keeping readers guessing with unpredictable twists. Adding it to my reading list!

I enjoy reading crime and mystery stories, and I guess this book will get me on the hook. I'm interested to know how Wes and Steel will handle their tricky situation, pursuing a drug lord is not an easy task. Did they manage to bring drug lord to face the wrath of his illegal operation? Or what really happened? I will add the book to my book shelf.

"South of Good" by Randall Reneau is a gripping fiction novel that follows the story of Hardin Steel, the sheriff of Cameron County. The plot takes an intense turn when Steel and his team inadvertently get tangled up with a dangerous drug lord, putting their lives at risk. The suspenseful narrative revolves around a sinister plot to assassinate Steel as he battles to maintain law and order. I'm definitely adding this book to my reading list! Congrats on Book of the Day!

I haven’t read "South of Good" yet, but this review has certainly piqued my interest. The unpredictable plot twists and the complex character of Sheriff Hardin Steel sound like the makings of a gripping read. Although the slow start mentioned in the review gives me pause, it seems like the story eventually picks up and becomes quite engaging.
I believe in something greater than myself.

I am fascinated by whether or not Hardin Steel would be able to successfully pursue a major drug lord.

Thank you for your detailed review.
I suppose the fans of crime thrillers will defeat the slow pace and start to enjoy the book. I also observed the role that law enforcement authorities play in crime. Their corruption makes and bends the rules to favor them and their friends.
