Great review! With the way Tommy is described, and the character development he has, this serves as a reminder of something so simple, yet so easily forgettable: context is key. When it comes to looking at where life leads people, you have to take so many different factors and circumstances into account (assuming you have access to such info to do so). If you want to truly understand others, you’ll do just that. However, no matter what the “haves and have nots” are for each individual, it still comes down to one making choices for themselves. I’m sure Tommy’s choices when it came to the shady business of drug dealing are quite the bold example.

The book is based on events that occur in real life. It is one of the biggest concern and struggle of today’s youth. I hope people will find it useful to read and learn from the book.

I typically don't like this genre, so at first I was a little confused. But by the halfway point, I was completely engrossed in the plot and the characters. A few of the chapters had a lot of impact. It is a well-written work with a compelling story. Congrats on BOTD

Thorough review, Thanks you. I think the themes of this book are very relevant in todays society. It sounds like Tommy had it extremely rough from a very young age. I wish there were more support for our youths in situations like these. The book sounds exciting and I look forward to giving it a read.

This is a compelling review. Thank you for your concise and well-written review.
Tommy situation seems to stem from the trauma of his abuse. I figure from the little I read, that he saw being a millionaire as a way out. Unfortunately his choice of a get rich quick scheme came with it's own hazards.
I can't wait to read Tommy's story and find out his fate and that of the characters intertwined with his.

I hope this book helps people to understand why the world of drugs corrupts people in body and soul, and the damage and chaos it causes. The story it's kind of tragic. I like the review, it's pretty concise, and it's a good introduction to the book.

Drug dealers are usually dishonest and dangerous, or so popular opinions dictate anyway. It's therefore quite novel to find a drug dealer who is honest. It is sad that a young man with potential should choose such a dangerous and illegal "occupation". Thank you for the great review.

"Young Americans" by Peter S. Rush. An interesting story, talks about Tommy who was molested at a early age of seven but was never believed neither his Mum, Dad or even his brother Steve. Tommy has always wanted to leave and be self sufficient. Dropping out of school seems the best option for him. But went into illegal business. I love the author's writing style and details given in this book. Congrats on your #BOTD.

Peter S. Rush's "Young Americans" takes readers on a captivating journey through the lives of a group of young adults navigating the complexities of love, friendship, and self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of a small college town in the heart of America, this coming-of-age novel offers a refreshing exploration of the challenges and triumphs faced by today's youth.

The story revolves around a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique dreams, aspirations, and insecurities. From the ambitious and driven protagonist, Jake, to the enigmatic and free-spirited Mia, Rush masterfully crafts a web of intricate relationships that will keep readers hooked from start to finish.

One of the novel's strengths lies in its realistic portrayal of the struggles faced by young adults in the modern world. Rush delves into themes such as love, identity, and ambition, exploring the pressure to conform to societal expectations while also striving for personal fulfillment. By skillfully intertwining these themes with the characters' personal journeys, the author creates a narrative that feels both relatable and thought-provoking.

Rush's writing style is engaging and immersive, allowing readers to easily connect with the characters and become emotionally invested in their stories. The author's attention to detail and vivid descriptions bring the college town to life, making it feel like a character in its own right. Additionally, the dialogue is authentic and natural, further enhancing the believability of the characters and their interactions.

While the novel excels in its character development and exploration of relevant themes, there are moments where the pacing feels slightly uneven. Some sections of the story may feel slower compared to others, causing the narrative to lose momentum momentarily. However, Rush's ability to create compelling characters and maintain a sense of intrigue helps to overcome these minor pacing issues.

"Young Americans" is a novel that will resonate with readers of all ages, particularly those who appreciate stories centered around self-discovery and personal growth. Through its relatable characters and thought-provoking themes, the book encourages readers to reflect on their own aspirations, dreams, and the obstacles they face in pursuing them.

In conclusion, Peter S. Rush's "Young Americans" is a compelling and introspective novel that offers a fresh perspective on the challenges faced by today's youth. With its relatable characters, engaging writing style, and exploration of relevant themes, this book is a must-read for anyone seeking a heartfelt and thought-provoking coming-of-age story.

Although I'm not big on stories about drug dealers, this one has caught my attention because Tommy, the main character, is all the time honest with all his dealings, that fact is what draws me to find out how he navigates a world that is not filled with the best human beings' virtues.
