In Flight To Success, Karlene Petitt delves into the secrets behind success. How do successful people achieve the things others don’t even dare to dream of? Where did Karlene Petitt herself get the strength and drive through her journey as a pilot, flight instructor, author, and mother? Working in the aviation sector, she realized how many aspects of flight are similar to her journey to success. On each flight, the pilot’s mission is to ensure the plane reaches its destination safely. In life, people must be the pilots on their own journeys to reach their goals. Becoming and staying successful comes with many challenges, but certain attributes and viewpoints in a pilot’s line of work can be of great value for successfully achieving goals. Petitt explains how fear, bad habits, overconfidence or lack of confidence, bad time management, procrastination, and focusing on errors can hinder the way to being successful. She shows how working as a pilot and flight instructor helped her break through those barriers by setting long and short-term goals, prioritizing important tasks, being flexible, having perseverance, and not allowing fear to limit her. With encouragement and advice, Karlene Petitt directs you onto your own Flight To Success.

Flight To Success is not your typical self-help book. The comparisons between different aspects of flight and attributes beneficial to achieving success make it unique. Karlene Petitt created an engaging and enjoyable book that encouraged me to become active and start thinking about my goals for the future. In this regard, I especially liked the “Take Action Now” sections at the end of each chapter. Besides recommendations for inspirational books or movies, these sections included assignments like creating priority lists instead of to-do lists, mapping out long and short-term goals, or writing down the lessons learned from past failures. Petitt tells not only her story of success but those of others, too. The perseverance and strength of people like Victor Wagoner is commendable. It is evident how much thought the author put into creating this book. Each chapter starts with a humorous and thought-provoking paragraph and includes several motivational quotes by personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi and Malcolm X.

I spotted more than ten errors in this book—mostly punctuation errors that didn’t bother me much while reading. Apart from those mistakes, the structure of this book is well-thought-out, and the writing is well-articulated and engaging.

To conclude, I rate Flight To Success with 4 out of 5 stars. Since I found more than ten errors, I could not give the highest rating. However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is engaging and encourages readers to start their journey towards success. I recommend this book to every older teenager and adult looking for a unique and inspirational self-help book.
