This book is fantastic because it's rare to find such a practical guide on how to write your own book. You'd think this topic would be in high demand, given the abundance of readers and the relatively few writers. I appreciate how the author not only encourages aspiring writers but also provides a clear, practical outline for becoming an author. The brevity of the book is a bonus, and I'm eager to learn from the author's insights. The review is excellent, and I can't wait to dive in. Congratulations to the author on being selected for the Book of the Day.

“Zen and the Art of Writing” by Ray Hodgson is a guide for writing a book from choosing the topic to getting it published and on the market. Hodgson suggests meditation as a source for inspiration and if one selects a hero has strong motivations and make sure he has flaws. It is also important to find a good editor and a cover designer and join a support group. I have never attempted to write a book but I know it is not easy and it takes inspiration, perspiration and persistency. I would think knowing someone in the business would also be a big help. A short but exceptional guide to follow.

The author advises meditation and musing as ways to think of a topic for your book. Other advantages of these are reducing stress, boosting immunity, and increasing concentration. In writing, the hero should have strong motivation and have flaws. One should also give each character an identifiable feature, conceal a crime, make the most of your memories, and get help from others. In self-publishing, hire a good editor, hire a cover designer and a formatter, have a website, keep notes of ideas, dictate when possible, and join a support group.

I love the short nature of the writing. The book contains only 110 pages, which makes it easy to read and master its contents. The steps the author gives towards self-publishing a book are well-detailed for better understanding. The author goes on to give ways to keep going, like writing freely, not correcting until the whole thing is down, and telling stories that only you can tell. The author is very encouraging to his readers. He brings in the idea that it is very possible to be an author by giving ways of achieving the same. He also adds examples of other authors and great people, which built in me a moving spirit.

Many aspiring authors don't know where to start, so having a book that guides them through the process would sure be helpful.

I especially like that the book is succinct, which makes it easier to memorize its core message.
