The Holocaust (and basically most of the first half of the twentieth century) is filled with tragedy. I tend to avoid such information (my soul is quite sensitive), but I know how important it is to discuss these events. I'm glad this one is uplifting. Thanks for the review!
As for you & your heart & the things you said & didn't say, she will remember them all when men are fairy tales in books written by rabbits. (Schmendrick the Magician)

When one reads about the Holocaust you know what the book will include. That's why I was intrigued about the title and the 'miracle' in the midst of these events. The book did not disappoint. It was very uplifting! Thanks for commenting. I appreciate your thoughtful words.

This might probably be an emotional book for some people due to the level of atrocities committed. Your review has piqued my interest in this novel. Great review.

It is an emotional book not only because of the atrocities. The recounting of what happened to the main character will impact you. I hope you will enjoy Johann's story. Thanks for commenting.

It is heartbreaking to hear what those people went through. It is through books like this, that remind us of the horrors of the past, that will, hopefully, keep it from happening again. Great review!

I agree. It was difficult for Johann to tell his story, and he didn't for many years. When he was finally ready, his granddaughter documented what had happened to him. It is an amazing story. Hope you will have an opportunity to read it. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks for the amazing, enthralling and detailed review. It is sufficient to help one make a decision to read the book or not. I would definitely like to read it. I have not yet discovered much about the other issues surrounding the second World War.
