Yes. It took courage to be this open about her past. Some of the things she described are quite surprising. Hope you will get a chance to read about her challenges. Thanks for commenting!

This is true. True stories can inspire us to see our lives and circumstances in a different light. I think this is especially true of this book. I hope you will be inspired by Amanda's story. Thanks for commenting.

Where I come from, tendering for the cattle is a man's job. Unless as a girl you're being punished. But in this case I understand that Amanda wanted to be vet.

Yes. This was one of the surprising things that I learned about Amanda's life. Wait until you read about how many cows her father eventually purchased - for her to milk!!! Hope you enjoy and are inspired by Amanda's story. Thanks for commenting.

Oh, I really want to know what becomes of Amanda. I hope she is able to follow her heart if even from within an oppressive religious environment. Thank you for the introduction to this interesting book.

Reading about Amanda and her brother's life on the farm sounds very emotional considering how their father abused her brother. I'll be checking this one out later. Thanks for the review.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

The good thing about books is that they could bring about new perspectives that may be contrary to our personal beliefs in life but are not necessarily entirely wrong either. It is good to note how you've discovered this piece's value. Thank you for your thorough review.

Growing up in Central Pennsylvania where there is an abundance of Mennonite and Amish, I'm not very surprised by the revelations in this book. A lot goes on behind those closed doors.
