I'm always interested in the culture of other people. This sounds like it will be a tough read emotionally, but I am very interested in reading it.

They are a large culture in the U.S. The author shares information about their beliefs and how that affected her upbringing. Hope you will enjoy it! Thanks for commenting.

A well-written non-fiction book with a clear writing style and vivid descriptions. Those who enjoy reading autobiographies will surely enjoy Amanda's story! Plus, it is well edited. 😀 Unfortunately, I don't read non-fiction books, so I will pass on this one. I am really glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the great review! :tiphat:

Are all Mennonite fathers strict disciplinarians? I hope Amanda (as well as her brother) is able to rise above her loneliness and discontent and their father is able to mend his relationship with his children. I'm convinced that this one's worth reading.

That's a good question. I do believe their beliefs are very law based which often results in resentment and frustration in their children. This is a moving story about Amanda's experiences and she shares her feelings about her upbringing. I hope you will enjoy it. Thanks for commenting.

I am absolutely going to read this book! I have been acquainted with Mennonite people, but never the inter-workings of their family and home life. So I will definitely be getting this and reading it. Hopefully today. That was a great review.

It's quite encouraging that Amanda defied all the odds of her father's cruelty and became a vet. I love autobiographical books, and your review has just piqued my interest in this one. Thank you for this review!

Becoming a vet was her dream. You'll have to read the book to see if that dream came true! Hope you enjoy the book. Thanks for commenting.
