Latest Review: The Fisherman and his Foundlings by Phillip Leighton-Daly

Although simple, her anecdotes were very entertaining and had qualities reminiscent of a soap opera
Sounds like a fun read through and through. Even the title just draws you in! A pity about the editing issues.

Absolutely. I hope he gets the editing sorted out :)

I personally prefer a raw story to a garnished one, it give an intrested reader a near reality picture of the writer's ideas (history) no matter how it goes, it doesnt have to be a happy-ever-after. But for the numerous typos, this book is intresting and the review represents it well. congratulations

I am not a huge history buff but your thorough review mixed with mention of the fun manuscript written by Dorothy are alluring. Reading about the events of this era from a non-traditional point of view, such as the "gossipy" discussions offered in this book, are attractive in comparison to lackluster text book style versions. Thanks for a great review!

Well, exactly. There's nothing I dislike more than parrot-style books that spit the information at you. This was definitely a refreshing change.

I'm sure it doesn't say anything great about me, but you had me sold at "a gossipy version"! I do think it's important to have an authentic and down-to-earth version of the aftermath of WWII - "a gossipy version" would definitely help contribute to that, instead of having all our info come from dry texts! Thanks for the stunning review as always, Bianka! (:

Hahaha, I am the same. As soon as she started talking about her neighbour's baby that could maybe not have been the husband's (SHOCK), I was practically drooling :lol2:
