Well, exactly. It was super interesting to read about what was going on - also from the perspective of a non-military person. Thanks for popping by :)

Thanks, Eva. Yes, can you imagine being told (as a Jew) that you are to live among the Nazis for the next two years
It lays the grounds for a very entertaining story.
Thanks for your comment :)

I would love to have had access to one of my relative's old memoirs, especially if they had such an interesting life to share. I hope that the author puts the book through a round of professional editing to do the story justice.

I totally agree! After my grandmother passed away (she actually fled Germany with her family during the war), I found that I had so many questions for her that I never got to ask. Imagine finding a little treasure like this!

I have always been fascinated by the Holocaust and have read quite a few books about it from different angles. I don't think I've ever found one that talked about what happened after. Definitely going on my TBR shelf. Thanks for the review. I would never have found it without you!

This is truly informative. I would like to read it. Most of the historical books I have read on WW I and II have not been able to depict clearly the effect of the war on those affected, especially the Germans as in this book. Thanks for the review. I hope the author will consider doing another round of editing for the book.

The authenticity of this story set in the post World War II era draws me in.

Thank you for the detailed review.

I had also not come across one. I also enjoy books about the war, but this is the first post-war one that I've found :)

Yes, the Germans definitely took a backseat after the war :)

I'm not really one for history for its own sake. However, this is embedded with accounts of raw human experience. It seems like an eye-opening book in regards to the horrors that people go through in their lives. Still not sure if I want to read this, but thanks for the great review!

I was also not sure I wanted to read it! These themes can be so depressing. But it was quite light :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
