Re: Official Review: And We Never Met A Nazi
Well, exactly. It was super interesting to read about what was going on - also from the perspective of a non-military person. Thanks for popping bykandscreeley wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 10:45 I'm definitely interested in what life was like after the war in Germany. How did everything go back to "normal"? This book would be quite informative I'm sure. It's too bad about the errors, but it still sounds worth picking up. Thanks!

Thanks, Eva. Yes, can you imagine being told (as a Jew) that you are to live among the Nazis for the next two yearsEva Darrington wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 10:58 What an assignment for an American Jewish army couple. It sounds like an entertaining way to learn about a difficult period. I hope the author cleans up the errors. A beautiful review, Bianka.

It lays the grounds for a very entertaining story.

I totally agree! After my grandmother passed away (she actually fled Germany with her family during the war), I found that I had so many questions for her that I never got to ask. Imagine finding a little treasure like this!unamilagra wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 23:00 I would love to have had access to one of my relative's old memoirs, especially if they had such an interesting life to share. I hope that the author puts the book through a round of professional editing to do the story justice.

I had also not come across one. I also enjoy books about the war, but this is the first post-war one that I've foundKelyn wrote: ↑12 Mar 2019, 21:22 I have always been fascinated by the Holocaust and have read quite a few books about it from different angles. I don't think I've ever found one that talked about what happened after. Definitely going on my TBR shelf. Thanks for the review. I would never have found it without you!

Yes, the Germans definitely took a backseat after the warKibetious wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 02:41 This is truly informative. I would like to read it. Most of the historical books I have read on WW I and II have not been able to depict clearly the effect of the war on those affected, especially the Germans as in this book. Thanks for the review. I hope the author will consider doing another round of editing for the book.

I was also not sure I wanted to read it! These themes can be so depressing. But it was quite lightnooregano wrote: ↑14 Mar 2019, 12:05 I'm not really one for history for its own sake. However, this is embedded with accounts of raw human experience. It seems like an eye-opening book in regards to the horrors that people go through in their lives. Still not sure if I want to read this, but thanks for the great review!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
