This is not like any other self help book I've read. I really sounds very intriguing. I think I might agree with the author when he rents Nietzsche's adage. An excellent review all round. Kudos.

Chet's Ideas in this book are golden. As humans, we have, because of uncertainty about the future, become slaves of our creation: institutions and laws. Thus, we have lost ourselves and our spirituality, which lies in our soulful connection to nature and interdependence.
I love Chet's suggestion about developing brotherhoods and sisterhoods to redeem our lost spirituality but it's simplistic, and there lies the problem. We can't all come to the realization of self at the same time, however, starting in units is more promising than waiting.

I do admire his approach as well as his educative book. I got myself kind of curious to find out more of the life of that indigenous Brazilian tribe.

Thank you your detailed review. I'm adding this onto my shelf.

The book speaks about a very controversial subject indeed. I admire the author's approach to debunking the myth of Western civilization as the pinnacle of achievement. This is an interesting read, with lots of ideas and solutions to a happier life. Thanks for an interesting review.

A very well-written review and a very interesting read, I'm sure. Despite the romantic approach mentioned, it seams to address a very contemporary aspect of the way we live our lives. Always in a hurry, thinking of what is going to happen tomorrow and less focussed on what is happening today.

I admire this book because we should not allow yourself to be enslaved with man-made inventions that could be antagonistic to nature. Congrats to this botd and a satisfactory review.

I'm not usually into philosophy and books like this. I usually only read young adult or fantasy. Maybe someday I would get to enjoy a book like this. But right now, this would be a little to hard for me to comprehend.

This book is thought-provoking but I agree with the mistake that you mention about the sister and brotherhood. It does sound unrealistic that humans will do things the way he suggests.

I thought the book somehow is very dense. It is very well-written and edited; but still... dense to read.

How were you able to deal with the constant repetition? I was pulling out my hair reading this book. I think it should have been many chapters shorter than it was. I agree with your opinion that the author blankets the whole world with western cultural ideals. Some eastern cultures may not fit into his two-toned categories.
