Niching Up is a non-fiction book that explains the basis for engaging in a niche market. The author, Chris Deyer, chose to niche in his legal profession. The author discusses the cons and pros of niching. The first chapter covers the cons, which include a smaller market and a lack of diversity. The next seven chapters after the first one discuss the pros of niching. The pros include expertise, premium pricing, efficiency, and referrals. To become an expert in any field, the author points out the need for education and application. The concept of the iron triangle is well explained in the book. This concept revolves around the idea of a fast, cheap, and good service or product. A person can only have two of the three at any one time.

I like that the book does not only focus on the advantages of niching. The disadvantages of niching are outlined and explained. Having a view of both sides will help one decide whether niching is the most suitable. This book helps to answer the questions: should I niche, and when should I niche? The book also guides a person on how they can find people in the same niche.

I have nothing to dislike about this book. There was not a single error in it, proving it was exceptionally edited.

I rate this book five out of five stars. The author explains in detail the pros of niching. Each pro that this book mentions covers its own chapter, and the relationship between the pros is elucidated in these chapters.

I recommend this book to an entrepreneur who engages in general services or sells different products and is prospective about niching up. The book explains the pros and cons of niching that can guide the reader to make a decision. It is also a good recommendation to learn what is required to be an expert in a certain field.
