Re: What Intruders Can You Relate To?

As I wrote this book, the one Intruder that I have found all human beings can relate to is "wanting to look good in the eyes of others." I believe all human beings are 'thrown to' want to get positive assessment of one sort or another from their community. The intruder turns this into a negative compulsion by insisting we are flawed in some manner, and so we must do whatever we can to look good, in order to cover up our flaws. Oh, that's a delicate matter that seems to affect all of us. Rob

My intruder is feeling that I am not enough or I am not doing enough. I try to remind myself to take each day at a time.

It's definitely procrastination. I'm still struggling with it but I make a to-do list every night and I do my best to complete it the next day. This is how I stay on track.

Mine is definitely procrastination. It has become a constant in my life. Ridding myself of it has become increasingly difficult.

The intruder I related to was negative talk. I found that I was constantly putting myself down, criticizing myself, and looking down on myself. I realized I had to stop all of that to move on in life.

Procrastination. The problem with this intruder is that the longer I procrastinate, the more I feel like a failure. In the end, I always make everything I had to do, and I usually do it in a great way. Yet, I have those intruders in my life.

The intruder I can relate to are procrastination and impatience. I tend to procrastinate a lot. Although I later get the job done most times, I still think it is a pretty bad intruder. I am also quite impatient when making decisions that are life altering, this has affected me in a number of ways which are not good.

As I wrote this book, I became much more aware of how vulnerable we human beings can be. Your comments about the Intruder truly help me to see more clearly the damage that unwanted mental house guest can do, if we don't put it in check. It is an absolute pleasure being with you in this forum :) Rob ... author: The Maestro Monologue

The inner intruders I fight against are negative thoughts that want to subdue my positive thinking and procrastination. I deal with these thoughts by proclaiming my beliefs and setting a fixed time to get to work.

Procrastination is one intruder I have had to battle for years, and I am still battling. After reading this book, I have discovered that I can win this battle if I am determined to understand myself and free myself from negative thoughts and emotions.
