Love is the only thing that does not follow the societal concept of common sense. It just happened. There is no denying it. There is no fighting it. Romance and love is the predominant theme in the novel Heartaches 2. Anna and Rafael are in love. There are forces that try to pull them apart. Some of these forces are Rafael relations. The Dayton's and Prestons' do not want them to end together. Rafael had been born out of wedlock. But that never negates the fact that he's a Preston and that the Prestons' blood run through him. His adversaries including his biological father plots his downfall. Will his love for Anna survive the trauma? Will he forgive his relations for what they did to Anna? His brothers Jayson and Matt, and his father had raped Anna!

I liked the romance between Anna and Rafael. Their loves story is a source of warmth and soothes the soul. They are genuinely in love. As earlier mentioned, love does not follow societal concepts of common Sense and it is in deed with them. They do strange happenings in the name of love. Anna says that she would die any day for Rafael, even at her request. She couldn't survive losing him. But who does that? If all lovebirds were like that, then I think falling in love would be a guarantee for automatic death. It is not every day that people are willing to give up their life for their partners. I only see those scenes in film. Yes, in the novel of Romeo and Juliet, there was a similar happening where both characters took their life so that they could be together in the next life. I would love to have a partner like Anna for a wife or girlfriend!

I liked characters like Pat. Though he is a gay, he is a constant source of inspiration for both Anna and Rafael. He uses his wisdom in psychology to them both recover from their past traumatic experiences. They are victims seeking to survive from abusive sexual encounters from the hand of their adversaries. His advice is marvellous. He's a true friend. His advice helps in their recovery. Unfortunately, the hearts of the protagonist are bleeding with rage and a burning desire for vengeance.

I was disappointed by poor character development in the novel. There is no attitude change in the lives of the leading characters. Anna and Rafael are filled with rage in the entire book. I expected some character change and a conciliatory tone towards the end. However, there is still hope as the book is to be continued in series Heartache 3. On the other hand, Pat had a blended character in his relationship with others.

The book is properly written and has little grammatical errors. The challenges I came across were minimal and did no harm to the flow of the storyline. I would give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. It absolutely deserved that rating. It was a perfect read and I have no reason whatsoever for deducting any star. Furthermore, the author used simple words and his choices of vocabulary was interesting.

I would recommend the book to lovers of romance film and soap operas. The book is so full of love. I think it can make a good soap opera film. There is love and suffering between Anna and Rafael. The book is a good read for person moving from past abuses. Pat's therapeutic procedures could be useful in aiding the recovery process. However, it has a lot of kisses and sex including gayish and thus will not be good read for children.
