Heartache2-Bad Boy Vibes is the second book of Iwring's trilogy,Heartache. It's a romantic book focusing on pain, love, sacrifice and vengeance.
After going through the rape ordeal Anna falls into depression, mistrust and loneliness. She locks herself in ,with her nightmares torturing her at every point of her life. Then she meets Rafe, the man who is willing to listen and understand her. He too is being haunted by his own past nightmares. They find solace in each other as each strives to save the other from self destruct; they become so attached to each other for survival, leading them to the deepest threshold of love. Their unshared past is looming threatening to tear them apart.Together they have to decide whether to confront and fight there past,or turn over the new page and start a new life.what action will they take? And will their love survive the hurricane coming there way?
The author weighs in strongly on the polarizing issues in the society; he does not flinch at his support of the gay rights and freedom for all.His expansive thinking comes out in the novel when he says that bullying is in all walks of life, only the smart keeps it within the confines of the law,for example, being bullied into buying a bottle of coke despite knowing it contains enough sugar to kill you, just because of the advert pushed on your face makes you feel good.
I liked the author's use of weather to create prediction, every time the clouds gathered in the novel,my adrenaline rushed, this signaled danger. This prediction deepened the relationship between me and the book tapping into my emotional bank. The use of rhetorical questions makes the reader understand the gravity of danger the character is in,the reader is made to think with the character and effectively became part of the story. Dialogue has been cleverly used by the author as a tool of flashback, taking the reader to the previous novel for deeper understanding of the storyline, it is also used to create a sense of humour in otherwise a tense story. The character buildup is amazing, Anna starts off as a weak and vulnerable woman but grows in strength; by the end she is able to stand and fight her enemies on her own.Pat is the most entertaining character, funny yet levelheaded, a reprieve from a tense story. I didn't like Rafe though, he was more possessive ,immature and would not take advice.
I rate this book 4 OUT OF 4 stars, because it is professionally edited owing to the fact that it has very few typos which might be attributed to human imperfections. However, the storyline is well constructed and engaging to the reader. The chapters are cohesively connected creating suspence hence making the reader want to read the whole novel in one sitting.
The novel contains sexual explicit scenes and employs the use of strong language, this makes it unsuitable for young readers and the conservative minded. The novel describes gay sexual acts which might not go well with some traditional minded readers. Otherwise the book appeals to the romance loving readers who believes in the power of love and strong endings.
