Heartaches 2 by H.M. Irwing was a very good read. It continues the story of Anna and Rafe, but is not the last of them. There are several surprises in store for the reader as Anna and Rafe continue on their very emotional journey of healing and love. Anna and Rafe both struggle with their own inner turmoils, and demons from their individual pasts. Both struggle with how to handle the present and future together. When Rafe is confronted with the truth of his parentage it proves to be very difficult for them to process or accept. Will it tear them apart? Or will it make them more determined to get justice? Don't forget about Pat, Anna’s best friend, who is also a big part of this story. His struggles with his issues and his support of Anna are as much a part of the story as Anna and Rafe.
I was very surprised by some of the developments in the story. It is very hard to surprise me in romance stories, so I was very pleased. An unpredictable story is the best a reader can ask for. There is more than one surprise in store for the reader.
Heartaches 2 is very well written with enough detail to create a vivid picture in the readers’ mind. H. M. Irwing is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I have found myself searching for more titles by this author. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars as it is very well edited and written, and because of how well developed the characters and storyline are.
I would not recommend this book to the faint of heart, or young adults as it does deal with mature sexual situations. However, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a great, in-depth love story, that deals with complex and mature situations. Of course they would need to read the first book Heartaches before this one in order to fully understand the characters.
I am excited to read the next book in this series as well. I feel fully involved in the story and want to see it through to its ending. Not many books have made me feel that way. The fact that this book has actually surprised me is just one of the reasons I like it so much. This author is now on my must read list. I will not only read the conclusion to this story, but any other stories written by this same author. The story of Anna and Rafe has not only caught my attention, it has brought out an emotional attachment to the characters. Anna and Rafe are strong characters, very well developed, complex, and realistic. Their emotional reactions to their situations are believable. They feel real. I look forward to more by this author. Remember the name H. M. Irwing as I personally believe this author is a very good one.
