Children's Book Market- re: Query Letters

Has anyone on the forum pitched a child's story book.

My best friend (also an artist/illustrator) is nearly finished illustrating a story that has literally sat in my writer's trunk for 20 years.

It is board-book length. We are ready to begin the query process.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Also...is it appropriate to submit samples of the illustration with the query?
