The bond between children and their pets is something I love to see, maybe because I have a pet too. I particularly liked how Carly and Charlie, the llama, make a good team. Although Five Mile Charlie by Kimberly Adams is a sequel, it can be understood independently of its prequel. In this installment, Charlie, the llama, notices that Grumpy, the mean coyote who lives on the mountain, is always furious and annoying. He and Carly then think of a solution.

Their solution leads them to the library, where they intend to read up all they can get on coyotes to find out how they can help Grumpy. There they learn that coyotes are pack animals and that a single one living alone might mean that he has been separated from his pack. Charlie offers to donate some wool for a woolen coat. Queen Nora and the rest of the bees offer to make the woolen coat. Read on to discover what plans Carly and the animals have in store for Grumpy.

The illustrations were one thing worthy of the utmost commendation in this story. They were beautifully done and captured in such a way as to hold the children's attention. I loved the characters in the story; Charlie, the llama, loved making everyone around him happy, as we could see in his idea of reaching out to Grumpy, the lonely coyote. I'm sure children would learn some lessons, like kindness and generosity toward others. The grammar was very friendly, and children would no doubt find it easy to read.

The only thing I disliked was that it was brief, which is subjective as I wanted to know all that would happen. I will look forward to the sequel. Every other thing was on point. The plot, illustrations, and characters were all well-thought-out. I did not encounter a single error throughout my reading, implying that this book was perfectly well-edited.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for the positive reasons highlighted above. It is a fantastic book for children. I recommend it to children between the ages of 4 and 10.

I also look books about children and their pets. I love the innocence of children, it's evident in the way Charlie wanted to help the coyote. Great review.

I enjoyed reading your review. Although I did not quite enjoy this book as much as you did, I'd recommend it to children too. The author did a great job with the plot. Nice review.

Can Charlie the Llama talk? This story is about helping and understanding others around us. I also love friendships between kids and their pets. It's wonderful to see. Since I'm not a child, I may not read this book but I won't turn it away if I get the chance. Nice review.

This story seems very interesting. I would say having a pet Llama is unexpected. I would love to see how Carly and Charlie helped Mr. Grumpy. Thanks for the review.

It must be so interesting that the reviewer is complaining of it being brief. It seems that the book is very much educational. I also love that they were trying to help a fellow animal. Thanks for an amazing review.

One beautiful quality that needs to be inculcated in children is kindness. This book seems to be able to do this. How did Charlie and Carly help the coyote? Great review.

This is such an adorable story! But on the flip side, it can be misleading for kids. Coyotes are not to be trifled with or “helped” in real life! 😂
Nevertheless, Carly and Charlie the Llama’s reading adventure together will be worth the read for youngins.

This book review is quite insightful and gave me a fair idea of what to anticipate from the book. The characters seemed well-rounded, and the storyline sounded intriguing. The ideas and messages of the book were also underlined in this review, which just made me want to read it more.
