This sounds like a great historical novel about family and growing up in simpler times. I will have to add this one to my list. Thanks for the great review!

Being a combination of historical fiction and a coming of age story with a female protagonist makes this book sound very interesting. I am excited to give it a try! Great review!

What an emotional story! It shows the harshness of society and people's hardship walking through life. Sadly, we also have to learn that we can't always have the perfect ending. Thanks for the review and recommendation!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction about a group of kids who grew up in Australia after WWII. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

I am looking forward to reading this book. I love stories that are set in Australia and it sounds like this author will do a great job of describing the small community and its' inhabitants. It is always interesting to me to see how historical events effect people in other parts of the world. I've never read much about the Aussie perspective on WWII, so that should be interesting as well.

The historical fiction depicts the everyday life of a family in the post World War II era. I really like how the author has woven historical elements from the time into the plot, which makes the story even more realistic and believable. Thank you for the detailed review.

Interesting perspective on WW2 but not the type of novel I could look forward to reading.

New technology of the kerosene heater and the washing machine brought ecstatic happiness to Margo
It's funny that their high tech stuff is something we'd have trouble living with! 🙆

It sounded like this would be a book I'd be interested in and reading your review has clinched the deal. A thorough, informative and clever review. What can I say? Thank you.

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genre, especially when it talks about war. I am eager to know how the family of Annie overcome every challenges they have. Oh, kerosene, reminds me of my grandmother, and I can relate to Margo when technology like washing machine ease your burden.
