I actually find myself thinking often why Life never turns out the way we want it to. After reading about the book in this review, I think I'll be satisfied. I'm eager to know Heather's story. Good job on the review.

I like the message of hope that Heather grows up to have a kind, pure and loving heart. I strongly agree that children take up their parents traits, take it subconsciously and externalise these emotions later in their life as adults. Hence parents need to be careful enough with their upbringing.

Congrats on BOTD!
Steven A. Yagyagan's Heather A fascinating book describes Heather's life and experiences. Even at a very young age, Heather experienced abuse at the hands of others. Despite receiving less affection from her family, she managed to grow up strong and with a compassionate and caring heart.

Heather is one of the few women and children who have survived daily abuse to tell her story after 60 years of suffering.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like an interesting read but it is not my kind of book.

The reason for trauma is not your responsibility but your trauma is your responsibility. It is important that you learn how to deal with trauma so as to not hurt people near you. Congratulations for the BOTD and all the best for future projects.

Your review is helpful. It gives an overview about the book and the way you highlight the main character's energy is nice.

Heather" by Steven A. Yagyagan is a painstaking story on child abuse. The review is well written to explore the various facets of this book. I wish to read the book.

Turns out that the things we do today affects what we conceive in the future. Heather is so brave to express her abuse and come out to have overcome it. Family will walk us through our troubles and in life all hurdles are easy to overcome since nothing happens forever though the memories of the abuse will be there but we ought to have a positive mindset and soldier on. Thank you for the great review and congrats for BOTD.

Individuals who emerge from challenging circumstances with kindness and compassion are truly admirable. The notion of children enduring hardships due to their parents' mistakes has never resonated with me. Your review captures the essence well.

Lovely review! As someone who’s on their own journey of healing and forgiveness (and still struggles with the personal hardships), stories such as Heather’s are what continue to give me hope. You have to be able to hold on to hope, no matter how tiny an amount.
Furthermore, I liked how Heather's siblings JJ and Clarice loved her and reminded her they were always there for her, and also how her elder brother Rudy stood up for and defended her.
With today being a holiday meant to be all about family, love, gratitude, and togetherness, the BOTD having a story like this one is quite the interesting contrast. This is why I’m glad that Heather, despite the terrible hand she was dealt, had people in her corner that genuinely loved and cared about her. No matter how much you can do and handle on your own, the power of community will always be needed somewhere along the road.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

This is a fantastic review, Sarah Kate, and thank you for putting this book in perspective. I sampled a few pages where Heather and her family are celebrating the baptism of Heather's youngest sister and Heather is meant to dance the "princess dance", and this part had no child abuse. I am glad I read your review as I would not have the heart to read about the child abuse Heather suffered. And I agree with your five-star rating - the sample I read was very atmospheric and deserved five stars.

It is always sad to read about child abuse and family members who inflict such pain. Thankfully Heather's siblings helped and protected her. It's wonderful that she managed to forgive the people who harmed her. Thank you for the great review.

Thank you for you insightful review of, "Heather" by Steven A. Yagyagan. Child abuse is a horrible experience for any child and in this story it is about Heather's abusive life. A lot of children grow up to be abusers themselves because they know no other way of living. But in this book, we discover that Heather overcomes her experience and becomes kind and strong with a good heart. I look forward to reading about how Heather did overcome her difficulties and turned it all around. Congratulations to the author for BOTD.

Thank you for the profane words warning. Your review was able to communicate some of the emotions felt while reading the book. This gave me a glimpse of what to expect.
