Which Genre for November?

I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to read for this, which is odd as I don't typically read historical. And what's even more frustrating is that there's little agreement about what's historical, and what's not. Darn Google

@GraveRobber, a general rule of thumb we use in libraries is 50 years in the past, but we won't get too technical.

My problem right now is too many to choose from. Not a problem I thought I'd have with historical

I'm currently leaning towards either The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff, or Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton.

That could always change though

Pirate Latitudes looks like fun. I've been reading so many HF dealing with Europe, I thought a change would be good; so I loaded my Nook with a novel about the South Seas Islands. Samoa-A Historical Novel by J. Robert Shaffer. I can't recommend it as I don't know anything about the author nor this book - another shot in the dark.
