I agree with @nozora, Between Shades of Gray is also a good one

Question, though - do people consider To Kill a Mockingbird as historical fiction? I was going to do The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but realize that I would not be able to finish it for this month, so I might save that as a summer read.

A great choice! I loved the book. Enjoy!hsimone wrote:That sounds interesting! I've been wanting to read Between Shades of Gray actually.

I liked 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas' and 'The Hiding Place'. I would say 'The Hiding Place' was probably my favorite though, 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas' is kind of slow at first.bookowlie wrote:Does anyone have any suggestions for Civil War or World War II novels? I've already read The Postmistress a few years ago.

As for a Civil War book, Glory or the Blue and Gray series. Glory is a story of an African American Regiment that fought for the Union during the Civil War. Blue and Gray series tell the story of families split by political belief.
