Superhighway by Alex Fayman is a trilogy. Book one has 46 chapters that also fall on first person narrative. The book portrays the life journey of a young teenage boy who had unique abilities that enabled him to travel through the Internet, assess and manipulate data and sensitive information of various corporations and Agencies to satisfy his interest. The concept in the book brings to light the life and experience of Hackers in literal sense.
Alexander Fine, also Alex, is a handsome and intelligent orphan who spent his entire childhood at Downtown Orphanage. He enjoyed special treatment from Ms. Jenkins, who was the Downtown Orphanage Administrator. Several couples visited the orphanage and applied to adopt him but they ended up returning him back simply because they felt like things were not going to work out well living with him. At age 15, Alex developed interest in technology that brought him a fascinating mood as he read through the network doctrines that depicted optic and data transmission ideas.
His unique abilities manifested when he came to contact with a network cables at the orphanage computer laboratory. The swift travel through the internet was an experiment invented by some research engineers that was known as electroportation. Alex together with other twin teenagers Justin and Nicky shared a genetic mutation: RJGD67 that enabled them to travel through the tiny network cables, but Alex had two more genes in his DNA that made him exceptional from the twins.
Alex life Journey is a true definition of a busy superhighway for his life pages flipped rashly since the day he disappeared from the orphanage. He was homeless but in the blink of an eye he became a billionaire, who was not mean but generous, running business with prominent business men and owned an Orphanage that was not far from down town orphanage. The ending of the story was quite emotional. Alex loses the only woman he truly loved, he learned about his real parents and grandparents and how they lost their lives in tragic and painful events. This created in his heart the urge to revenge in pursuit of attaining Justice for the death of his family but he reasoned and thought that his quest for revenge would only heist the innocent.
Anna's death saddened me. She was murdered in cold blood by a gangster known as Langhout because of the wrist watch Alex was wearing. Anna knew little about Alex yet she risked going out for a date with him. This brought to mind that we need to have a detailed information about who we go out with and what they are up to before accepting a date with them to avoid horrific and mortality situations.
Could I be justified claiming that Alex was a silent robber? He intentionally robbed money from cartels and criminals without leaving any trace of him behind and used up the money to help himself get basic needs, shared some money with the poor and reasoned that giving the money to the poor justified taking it from vicious thugs, clearing him the defector of any wrongdoing.
I loved the mystery, thrilling and exciting moments in the narration that left me glued to the seat and eyes fixed on the pages of the book. The connection between the mind and energy that lead to intense hunger and volume depletion is brought out clearly in the narration. The nicely written vocabulary, eloquent narration and use of quotes embroidered the plot development. Alex intellectual ability to assess and interpret vast and sensitive data of banks and big corporations and agencies without leaving a trace behind that would lead his adversary to his door impressed me. This is one of the skills hackers have that give them the freedom to assess data and manipulate it to fit in their interest.
Despite the captivating plot development I found few things I didn’t like. The chapters didn’t have sub-titles that give the reader a hint of the proceeding contents in the chapter. I also felt like the detailed description of an event or surroundings that directly affected the protagonist dragged the flow of the story a bit that somehow made me bored.
The book would interest those who love computer science, research engineering and criminal investigation concepts. I enjoyed reading the book that I didn’t trace any grammar or punctuation errors. I rate the book at 4 out of 4 stars for the eloquent writting, rich vocabulary and null grammar mistakes that spiced up the story. The book has a good number of life lessons that could be helpful and comforting. The authors’ ability to chip in events that didn’t directly affect the protagonists’ life without losing track of the story line earned him a bonus.

I agree, book reviewing attracts variety of opinions. Thanks you for checking my review.kaymontacell wrote: ↑08 Sep 2018, 10:39 Great review! I see we had very different thoughts about the merits (or lack thereof) of Superhighway However, that's the magic of book reviewing and diverging opinions. I also agree that the mechanic involving Alex's immense hunger after internet travel provides a bit of realism to the situation. Thanks again for the review!
