I enjoyed the review and the sample. The book certainly begins with a positive message. I am glad the author had a good role model, in the form of his Dad (stepfather). The author certainly does have an uplifting and straight-forward approach.

Sounds really motivating. It is a thorough review too but I am not sure it's for me. Self help books just doesn't interest me.

Its amazing to hear about how people have succeeded and overcome struggles and adversity. It is never too late to make something of yourself and its nice to get ideas of how people got to be successful. I know not all methods work for everyone but it is nice to have inspiration and an idea of where to start.

The sample I read ended when he got accepted into the military to train as a medic, so I am glad to read in your review that the other parts of the book are inspirational.

Does he ever mention his dad later in the book? I really enjoyed how he writes about how the man who fathered him is just a stranger to him, but his dad kept learning skills and starting businesses which may have influenced the author to develop both a successful veterinarian practice and real estate group.

It is very inspiring when someone moves from grass to grace and is able to motivate and challenge others. This book is very inspiring. Thanks for the review.

It's so true, our environment, birth circumstances, or upbringing do not determine who or what we become. We determine the kind of person we want to be and our path in life by believing in ourselves and staying committed to our values. This applies to both the successful as well as the unsuccessful in life who held on to a low image of themselves and limited their own potential.

Seems a good book for those who seek career guidance and motivation. But not my type of book and I will pass by this. Anyway thanks for the review and congratulations on being BOTD

This motivational book looks great. I loved the upbeat and smooth writing style of the author. From central Georgia to Vet is quite a neat story.

It is amazing what the author accomplished, since he came from such a hard childhood. Even more commendable is him wanting to be a role model for young African Americans. Thanks for your review.

I'm so excited about today's BOTD! I teach in a high school where the African American population is about 90%. I loved your review - this is a great book for teens through adults, even if not all parts of it are relevant to their lives at the moment. I also plan to send this link to our Financial Literacy teacher, and maybe he could purchase it for a class book study. :-) Thank you!

This sounds like an incredible and motivating memoir. The author discusses the difficulties he faced as a child and how he rose up through his field of study then starting his real estate business! Congrats on the book of the day! Great review!

So, this book not only inspires us to pick our lives up and do the best with what we are given, it also dishes out —and quite deliciously too— financial advice. Especially, as it concerns the world of real estate.

What better book is there, than one which lifts your spirit and teaches solid financial principles?

I need to read this for myself. Good review.

I had already started reading the book when I read this review, but it captures the essence of what I have read so far. It is proving to be a great story of success as this review describes.

This book most definitely seems like a very important read. I'm sure everyone experiences a low point in their lives, and a motivational book such as this one would be great inspiration for getting back on your feet. I really like the author's vulnerability and openness in this book. He tells us about how he went from being poor and making wrong decisions to a successful vet and business man. I love stories like these because they help inspire me to strive for better in life no matter what. Thank you so much for your insightful review!
