Re: The Quote Game
Ah Gannon a real gem .... Me Lord, Blackadder himself ... Rowan AtkinsonGannon wrote:I do believe that it was Henry Ford. Maud I think Queen E was saying that she is a rock. Then gave the explanation that a rock does not bend in the wind. I don't think she was saying that she was a particular rock that was special and did not bend in the wind. Does that make sense? She is one of my favourite leaders from history as well.
How about....
AND, WE PUT A LOT MORE VALUE, OR AT LEAST I PERSONALLY PUT A LOT MORE VALUE, ON THE CREATIVE VALUE AND THE CREATIVE CHALLENGES OF SOMETHING THAN THE COMMERCIAL NECESSITIES.
I think you are spot on re Elizabeth 1 ... she was getting a lot of flack as the courtiers maintained she, being a woman, could not lead an army into battle. She fought a battle all the way through her reign against those who where inherently opposed to a female on the throne. I think it can be fairly said that history proves that she showed them!
Now I'm at work so I'm minus my little book ...
I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.

Here's one for you
"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes." - that always cracks me up!

Hi there RuqeeD, that is a great quote, could not stop laughing after I read it. After searching around on the net I found the author, it is Jack Handey.RuqeeD wrote:Gandalf - Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

No problem there .... that was The Big Fellow, Mick Collins (and unfortunately he was right!). Hope you are enjoying the biography.
Now have a go at this one:
'I've put in so many enigmas and puzzles that it will keep the professors busy for centuries arguing over what I meant, and that's the only way of insuring one's immortality'.
