What movie didn't you initially know was a book?

'Cloud Atlas' is one of my favorite movie ever. I think I probably watched it three times in a year when I found out that it was originally a book.

I would take books any day over the movies. They offer details and depth to the story. A movie will try to put say 700 pages into a 60 minute or more video which will undoubtedly leave a lot to be desired regardless. There is always an anti-climatic moment for me whenever I watch a movie after reading the book. I go like, "Oh, they shouldn't have put that there" or, "They didn't include that here". I'm always excited to find a book after I watch a movie and determine to read it later. The power of imagination is sos much stronger than the credit it is given.

This makes me pretty happy. I recently saw The House with the Clock in its Walls and then found out there was a book. Granted, I haven't read the book yet but I think it will be better than the movie. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie but reading a book for me makes everything so much richer.

The Vinci Code - This actually I saw movie first and then found out there was book. I liked movie so I went ahead and read the book as well.

I don't like to read the book then watch a movie based on that book because I get disappointed. They always make the movie worse than the book. I like books more because I picture the characters and the setting in my mind and when I watch the movie almost everything is changed... For instance, last week I watched Beauty and the Beast (the new movie with Emma Watson) and I was disappointed. The story is a bit different, the Disney cartoon is better than the movie. Also, Maleficent... All in all, I like the books more

Anyone ever have any of those "bummer" moments...where you watch a show or movie, only to later find out it was, in fact, a book first.

Examples: The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold) is a book to movie that I watched and thought "wow this would have been an amazing BOOK" then found it was actually a book.

You. Netflix series. Obviously an intense thriller. "Hidden Bodies" by Caroline Kepnes is the book in which the series is based on. Now THAT would have been a great read..

Well, I rarely get disappointed by finding out there's another book out there but, I didn't know "The Princess Bride" was a book first.
It's equally wierd but actually very different from the film.

I know what you mean, I just prefer to be in total suspense while the book tells the story.

Warm Bodies. The movie and book were so different, that when I read the book, I don't think I was able to enjoy it as much as I wanted to because some things were spoiled, characters were described differently, situations happened differently, and I was just confused half the time. That's why I usually wait until I've read the book to see the movie, because once you see the movie, you can't unsee it.

The Witcher! I just thought the Netflix show was based off the video game, but then I found out about the books and I'm so glad I did because they're amazing
