I might have read about cult, religious or otherwise, if it was in crime or thriller setting. As it is I don't like memoir and not interested in reading one about such a thing. Through I admit this book may be useful to selected population.

Wow, scary stuff. Cults are nothing to scoff at, and their leaders often are in position of power and are well versed in psychological methods to manipulate people, which seems to be Elizabeth's case with her therapist. It sounds like this book reveals a lot into the inner workings of a cult, I hope Elizabeth got the help she needed after she got out.

Liz's story is fascinating. She has been a victim of abusers since she was young. Her mother started it all. I am glad she found the courage to break free with the help of a true friend.

I intend to read this book out of curiosity. Cults have become very rampant due to people's desire to belong. Unfortunately the same cults work to their disadvantage and cost them their jobs, families, freedom or their lives. Elizabeth's story is an eye opener. Great review.

An interesting topic indeed! Today's BOTD sounds informative, and I like that questions are included in the back to help groups stay focused when discussing it. Thank you for the free book and congrats on the wonderful review from OBC! :-)

Mind control comes to mind. The review is spot on. The book is very good as it shows you how deception works.

I'm very sensitive when it comes to abuse( sexual, verbal or emotional) and exploitation, I don't think I will be reading this one. Thanks for the great review.

While I do like stories about religious cults, this kind of "cult" sounds too much like a domestic situation - full of "systematic abuse and manipulation" - that I lived in for 15+ years, and I do not care to revisit that time. Thanks for the review, just the same.

It is fascinating to get a glimpse of how someone can get involved in a cult. I find it intriguing to see the process where someone becomes entangled without necessarily understanding the full breadth of a cult. It’s intriguing that the author knew some things were not right and yet could not pull away, and I think that is what captures my interest the most.

What an intriguing story. Thank you for the review. I'd want to get to know Rachel, Elizabeth, and Judith better, too.

At first look at the title, I was already thinking it to be what usually the word cult meant. But reading the review, what the book really is about something else: an interesting and an intriguing plot. It makes you wonder how the main character will do after her waking up from a literal nightmare. Congrats!

The novel depicts how much damage being involved in a cult can have on a person. The novel forms part of my interest.

Elizabeth using her story to show how cults can effect people negatively sounds interesting. I'd love to read this. Thank you for the review.
